Stray Cat!?

I found a stray cat on my deck how can i find out if it has fleas?

Look, you can also get a light colored towel and then rub the cats hair and see if little black specs come off in the towell if they do then the cat probably has fleas.

a very close visual inspection. Also - there is something called flea dirt which just looks like dark spots on the skin. To be on the safe side, I would get it something for fleas. Make sure you get stuff for cats not for dogs as they are not meant for each other. You can buy something in a small tube and then just squeeze the fluid from the tube into its skin on its neck. You may also want to check for ear mites. Look closely at its ears, if they are really dirty there is a good chance it has ear mites. If you are bringing it indoors with another animal, take it to a vet to get a thorough exam and if you cannot afford that, there are low cost clinics and even low cost clinics at major pet stores like Pet Supplies Plus and Petco. I do not recommend Petsmart as they are a terrible place with a lot of behind the scenes bs with both animals and their employees.

first you need to report finding this cat to your local SPCA or pound or whoever deals with lost pets (call a vet to find out who)... if you keep it without reporting it you can be charged with theft...

fleas are easy enough to see depending on the color of the cat.. they are small and black and move around a lot.. if you pat the cat in the opposite direction of the fur you will see them..also watch for excessive scratching.. on a black cat you will notice flea dirt (lots of white specks similar to dandruff)

well if it has fleas then you will probably see black bugs flying around it. also if the at screathes itself alot.
