To clarify another answerer those following the gluten free diet need to avoid WHEAT, RYE, BARLEY and OATS. Wheat is not th eonly food with gluten in it. Rice is actually Gluten free (in its natural state, of course manufacturerd rice mixes may contain added gluten.) Oats are actually gluten free by nature but due to cross contamination in harvest and processing,t hey are not considered gf. GF oats are availabled online.

Now I have heard many Celiacs use variations of the La Choy soy sauce BUT I do not know WHICH one they use! By nature soy sauce is NOT gf bc they use wheat in it. I personally use San-J Tamari Wheat Free Soy Sauce (its GF also) it is found in most grocery stores and health food stores.

I have heard online that La Choy IS gf, but to be sure I would contact the manufacturer.

Good luck!

PS: PF Changs has a GF menu if u enjoy chinese food.

And to edit another's answer:

IN THE US MSG is almost ALWAYS GF! Always check with the manufacterer. I HIGHLY suggest those following the GF diet check out these resources, things change every day and you need to keep update if u are following ht ediet (or handing out advice to others!)

Theoretically, yes. Gluten is found in products containing wheat, oat, rye, or barley, or in products where gluten is added for manufacturaing purposes.

BTW: Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is not a gluten-free product, either.

No. Gluten is made up of glutenin and gliadin. Rice has mostly gliadin in it, and other foods contain mostly glutenin. Wheat is the only food that contains gluten because it has glutenin and gliadin in equal proportions.

So technically it doesn't contain gluten in it if it doesn't contain wheat, but it can contain either glutenin or gliadin from other ingredients in it.
