why my scanner stop working? help urgent!!!?

Dont know why , my scanner suddently stop working,i using usb epson perfection 3490 scanner on my win 2000 pro,my scanner driver is install properly,and my usb port also ok, i check at devide manager also no problem,but when i want start using scanner, it say "EPSON scan cannot start",WHY??

uninstall drivers,
uninstall EPSON SCAN program,
Shut down and restart PC
reinstall drivers and then the program

Could simply be it "lost" the USB port (virtual reference to it anyway) and couldn't "see" the scanner.

This is especially a problem if scanner is unplugged and reconnected at some point.
