Someone responded that it COULD be media propaganda and they'd be interested in seeing this supposed video evidence this national newspaper stated it had... QUOTE "The Sun has video evidence of boys barely old enough for school handling AK47 assault rifles."

Should this "video evidence" be put into the public domain?

Do we believe such "evidence exsists"?

Hmm I am just asking you to consider IF IT IS POSSIBLE for a child - a 6yo CHILD to handle such a weapon and get a few rounds off before the inevitable happened to that child..? ..

This is probably a propaganda campaign for recruitment for the terrorists. It is not new. Things like this are seen a lot in Isreal by the Palastinians. A few years back there was an infant dressed up as a suicide bomber for some Palastinain publicity event.

Yes, children are used by these enemies. It was very common in Somolia, kids had weapons and were shooting as US soldiers. Women and children would stand in front of the men with rifles shooting between the legs of the women and children. Read the book Blackhawk Down. The movie even portrayed one sceen with a child with an AK47, but didnt really show what was happening.

The idea that soldiers should be 18 years old is a western idea from western culture. In many non-western cultures, it is common for soldiers to be young. Pretty much starting at puberty. This is very common in Africa.

If as kid was firing on my unit, yes, I would shoot back if I had no other choice. That child is now a combatant. The child would no longer be protected under the Law of Land Warfare.

A child could weild an AK47 and have in the past. They are usually not very accurate since the sights and ergonomics were not designed for someone that small. A child at the age of 6 probably could not keep a hand on the pistolgrip and the trigger, but yes, they could pose with one for publicity.

I have seen video like this.

Also, AQ knows how to use the media. They know that it would be no time at all for the media to pick up on children attack US soldiers. They know the kids are better used as observers and information gatherers.

There is no question that you should shoot the kid with the AK-47, if he poses a serious threat to you. If it was me I would also do the same. That being said if the kid is just holding it, or if he is unlikely to pose a threat that no you dont shoot him. Its the same as if the person was 40. "A bullet from a 6 year old is as effective as one from a 40 year old" You, as most people feel that its wrong for children to hold guns and it is but a life is a life. Shouldn't a 6 year old with an AK has the same right as a 20 year old...All men are created equal.....right?

It is possible but not likely that a 6 year old could handle the weapon and fire it at people.

It is much more likely however that boys aged 10-17 would be used in terms of the use of non-adult personnel.

10 year olds handle and use various weapons every day in Africa, not just rifles from the Kalashnikov series.

I dont think the AK-47 is even in production anywhere anymore, 1947 was the year it was implemented in the Soviet Army.

Weapons that look like the AK-47 are around though.
AKM's, AK-74's, AKSM,AKS-74, RPK,RPKS-74, AK-101-105 ect.. are more likely to be encountered.

A 6 year old with an AK-47 is stretching it a bit. But, it's well documented that some guerilla groups use young children as soldiers, mostly starting at about 10 to 12 years old, any younger and they can't lift the weapon. But they do it and they kill eachother all the time. Now if I were in the position of seeing a young boy pointing and firing a weapon at me, he is no longer a young boy, he's an enemy combatant. And I'd have to act accordingly, if you can capture him, capture him, if you can't, you do what you have to do to stay alive. Frankly I'd prefer our soldiers alive.

I've seen all kinds of videos w/ kids holding all kinds of misc military weapons, in play and in gorilla combat on NBC,PBS and others. From South American kids to Muslim kids to African kids. The Third world is nothing like us 1st worlders, There was a time in this country when children would pick up arms in the most dire of times. Weather a kid is fighting an oppressive government/country with his family and community (just) or brain washed by an oppressive religion to kill innocents for the glory of God (unjust), It's happing. People who carry guns tend to shoot or get shot. Kids are no exception as cruel and horrible as that may be. Is it just? Any good solder wouldn't shoot unless shot at with the exception of predefined military targets of course. So if I was in battle for my country in a just war, like defending the homeland from a foreign evasion,and a 6 year old was trying to shoot me dead, I'd shoot back. It sickens me to admit that because I don't like the idea of killing children, but it would be necessary for my survival.Now,in this case, are these children being trained as Terrorists or freedom fighters? Are they being trained to blow up themselves in a crowded bus station or protect their families and farms to what they see as American aggressors? Can we really get thoughs answers without living it? Do we really put that much trust in our Conglomerated 2 party bias Media? So the video's probably real but what's really going on? Bin Laden has been dead for years now(IMHO) Where do we end up when we venture down the rabbit hole?

I replied to your earlier question that it would be almost impossible for a 6 year old to lift a loaded AK-47 much less fire it. Look at my Avatar, that is an AK with the stock removed. This rifle is larger and heavier than what our troops carry.

i'm not sure why anyone doubted your original question. We all know, and its established fact, that may guerrilla groups overseas train young children to fight. I mean its such common knowledge that its been put in mainstream movies. (Blood Diamond).

Wake-Up!! Children are shooting and killing people every day in some parts of the world using these weapons. They are taken from their murdered families and made into warriors in the tribal battles in Africa.

I would not be shocked at all. We know how children and other civilians can be used by the insurgents from previous wars such as Vietnam.
