I see by some answers that a "one on one" fight IS feared by cowards.

If ever in a fight, I must assume my opponents intent is to kill. Therefore I will utilize any means necessary to preserve my own life.

The object of being in a fight is to win. The question is, do you want to win by any means necessary, or cling to some outmoded sense of "fairness". Is it fair to double-team your opponent if he has a weapon and you don't? Is it fair to ambush your opponent if you are outnumbered?
Who cares.
Win by any means necessary. If a fight lasts more than 5 - 10 seconds, you're doing something wrong.
