I recently moved from DC into MD. In order to register my vehicle in MD I had to request that my financing company release my title to MVA. However MVA sent me the orginal title (in my name). Now that I have the title in my name, do I still have to pay the car-note?

Can my car be repossed? If I have the title showing that I am the owner of the vehicle.

I'm quite sure the lender has a 'lien' agreement form on file showing them as the lienholder, in fact there may be a spot on the title that lists them as lienholder as well. Regardless, once a vehicle title has a lien placed on it there is a document known as a 'release of lien' that must be issued to the buyer from the lender before the the title is 'lien free'. Sorry to rain on your parade. Pay up or give it up!

When I place a lien on your car - it does not go on your title.

It is on a different piece of paper all together, and even if they did take it off the title, they still have a billing department, and it will be noticed and fixed.

That happened to me once with a mobile home. I noticed that the title didn't have a lien holder and technically I held full ownership. I'd double check and recheck to see if there is a lien holder on the note. If not, then technically you could fight it. However, it's not the right thing to do !! You should be honest !

I live in a state that gives you the title to the car but it still has a lein on it. Yes you do still have to pay your car note unless you want it to get repossessed.

YOU STILL OWE THE BALANCE FOR THE VEHICLE AND YOU CANT FIGHT ANYTHING.

ONCE THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED.

OR IF YOU DON'T GET NOTIFIED AND SELL THE VEHICLE LATER THIS WOULD BE CONSIDERED FRAUD.
