There a lot of lottery scams sent as emails. First tip off,
but not in all cases, is it will be mailed to
undisclosed recipients
or could even have your name on it.
Secondly, if you haven't bought a ticket for a lottery
or entered a contest to win, why would someone
tell you that you had won? I do not know what country
you are living in, but below are links to some
examples, the frauds are international!

Official Lottery promoters do not communicate by e-mail. If I see the word "lottery" in an e-mail, I delete it immediately.

Let me think. You won a lottery you never entered? And all you have to do is send them a little money to cover the taxes and/or give them your bank account numbers to transfer the funds? Yup, sounds legit to me. Congratulations on your new-found wealth.

Fake, phony, false; it's a phishing attempt to get your bank information. If you give it to them, you'll find out that your account has been cleaned out.
