are you asking on playing or about the instrument? If it's your playing...keep practicing. Get different method and repretoire to play. And invest into a good teacher. Challenging yourself and having a great instructor will greatly improve your skill.
If you're talking about the instrument itself, try out different models and brands. It could be that you have "outgrown" your flute.

Don't listen to jimobasa. Saxes are lame! Okay, I'm kidding...But they aren't cooler than a flute. Just practice. Work on your intonation, that's huge on a flute. Work on scales, and basically, just play as much as you can. I play trombone, and I pretty much sucked for the first four years, and then I joined our community band, and my ability has shot up. Good luck!

Practice. There is no short cut to being good at an instrument. It takes years of hard serious practice to be really good. If there was a shortcut, everybody would be as good as James Gallway!

Practice, both alone and with other. It's very funny to play with other, and gives you something else to think about than just your notes. But also practice alone, 'cause then you can only focus on your self and what you are playing.
But....PRACTICE! It's the only way through! :)

As much as this sucks to say "practice, practice, practice" i used to play an instrument and although i was naturally good i was great i practiced u dont have to do it for long. If u play an instrument ur naturally gifted ( =D ) so u should jus find out wat ur weaknessess are and practice at those

Beside practicing, don't ever put it in the case. If you see it out, you'll be more likely to play it.
