In one direction from the parachute 2 km high, the angle of depression of two towns in line with the parachute are 8degrees40' respectively. How far are the two towns apart?

the deprssion angle between the parachuter and the tow towns is 8 and 40
draw a triangle the base is X and 2 km high
now take the town with 8 degrees (this angle between the twon with respect to the vertical this mean the angles of the triangle will be 8, 90, 82
now you have enough info to get the distnace
tan 82 = 2/X ....X = 2/7.115 = 0.28
the other town traingle angles are 40,90,50
tan 50 = 2/S .... S = 2/ 1.92 = 0.84
the distance between the tow towns = X+S = 0.28+0.84 = 1.12 KM
