Cry me a river?
"I have not heard Muslim leaders come out and condemn those Muslims who commit mass murder in the name of their God. If they are truly relegion of peace this is the time for them to speak."
The pope was right to say what he has said and
for such a peaceful religion the followers of Islam have a tendency to use “the threat of violence” when they don’t like what they hear.
If Muslims were as quick to publicly condemn the suicide bombers who cowardly kill and maim in the name of Islam, then maybe we'd start taking other things they whinge about more seriously.
Its ok for Islam to print, say and spread anti christian and anti semetic propaganda. As soon as someone writes a book, says anything or even draws a cartoon even remotely anti Islamic, the death threats and the bombings and the looting and sacking of embassies etc starts.
Here we go again! Dare to say anything which could be construed as criticism of Islam, and the usual bandwagon of vilification and hatred gets underway.
Why not wonder "why do people see us in this light; why do people say such things about us?" and seek to change perceptions?!
By giving the usual reaction, Muslims merely reinforce the stereotypical view - it perpetuates the vicious circle.
With all the ongoing crisis in the middle east, as far as I can see, the quote makes a valid point.
If Muslim world's anger can simply be aroused by a quote, it's probably time to get some anger management.
I am DEEPLY tired of the islamics throwing their hands up in horror every time someone even remotely criticises their religion, and yet they feel it is okay to savage anyone (figuratively and literally) that is not of their faith.
Tolerance works both ways; if they want non-islamics to accept them, then maybe they should try to accept that not every living thing wants to be a muslim.
'No real effort to understand Islam'. Oh boo-hoo-hoo. Since when was the onus suddenly on everyone else to understand Islam? People make judgements based on what they see and experience over time. What else is there to understand? Sounds like a spoilt teenager wailing 'no one understands me, I'm so special and unique'. Why doesn't Islam make more effort to understand why a fair number of people dislike it so much?
Instead of Muslims attacking the Pope on his statement, they should be stopping the terrorist groups etc. Why can Muslims sit back and say nothing about attacks in the west but shout with anger when someone questions there way of spreading Islam. Moderate muslims have to choose the sword or democracy there is no in between.
Simple question: Do records show that Mohammed did say something along these lines? Given how he behaved, the answer is probably yes.
Yet again, Muslims are trying to rewrite their own violent history, shutting down any *factual* discussion of history by pretending to be offended rather than countering arguments with facts and getting us to give up our own valuable freedom of speech.
I am not surprised that the Muslims are complaining, all they do. Even historical quotes seem to ruffle there feathers. Yet when they say anything about Christianity or the West we just sit there and take it.
They can only dish out criticism not take it.
How about all the scum that rant and rave on our streets about how evil the West is and openly rejoice in the events of 9/11, retract all their statements?
Once again the Muslims/Islam are having another cry about some words someone has said. This shows how weak Islam is as a religion, say or draw something and they get upset BORING. My faith and beliefs in my own religon transend any petty words or drawings....
Time for Islam to grow up and become part of the world community that we live in....
He was mentioning an historical fact. Islam is the only world religion who's so called "prophet of peace" spread his word by the sword. Did Jesus or Buddha ever take up arms and resort to violence? No. Any religion that leaves room for interpretation of violence, justifies suicide bombing and advocates the repression of women cannoty be viewed as a religion of peace. If Muslims wish us to view thier religion as peaceful then they need to learn tolerance of other views and stop their murdering.
Surely Islam's ridiculously disproportionate response to things such as this and the Mohammed cartoons will only tarnish Islam's image yet further?
For heavens sake. The muslims are upset AGAIN. Are these people really that childish and insecure that every single comment upsets them.
Wouldn't it be so nice to have even a couple of days out from this constant whingeing. What offends most here is that our lives are constantly dominated by this nonsense. Why don't these people grow up

Well said.
To simplify the entire statement: Those who live in a pool of petrol should not throw matches at others while praising their god.

Love is the only answer. It is not a religion of peace. They truly don't know any better. We are the ones that have been given the gift of peace and love and understanding from Jesus. We are the ones that have to stand out. We have to make the extra effort to work for peace without compromising our Christianity. We are the peace makers, and we must go to measures that in the eyes of the world seem foolish to make it happen. War never creates peace. Prayer, humility of people and countries, and knowing that the price pf peace is worth making some sacrifices for. If the Christians don't set the example for peace, then no one else will work for it.

Islam is an intolerant and violent belief. Some followers will cause terror and some will cause trouble and some will work at eroding the laws and democracies of countries around the world. It all comes down to doing whatever it takes to spread islam. Since most other religions and people are peaceful, Muslims know we will sit back and take it. They use our good nature, our freedoms, our tolerance against us.

Well, if they "report" you, they can "report" me too.
I agree with you completely. I am so sick and tired of this. And here in the responses you can see some of this same Islamic rehetoric. Notice, for instance, how making war on non-believers is characterized as "helping" people stop worshiping idols. Oh, thank God, we have the Muslims to steer us on the right path! We thought we had it covered with the Bible/Torah, after thousands of years of prophets, miracles, and fulfilled prophecies. But no, here comes Muhammed, with a story about an "angel" no one but him saw, and some secret scrolls he can't produce to the general public (unlike the ten commandments), and proceeds to cut-and-paste the Bible, rewrite holy scripture and even proclaim himself the comforter Jesus spoke of! And just like that, without a thought, they take his word for it. That's a pretty gullible crowd. Even Jesus had to "earn" his credibility with his own followers.
I am also sick of reading that every criticism of Islam is the result of "Christian hatred of Islam". Somebody could make a living selling that one as a rubber stamp. "You should study Islam before you make such hateful statements." The problem is, we do. We go on numerous sites, we read books (!), we hear first-person accounts by ex-Muslims. And we even read the verses quoted by Muslims themselves right here. By contrast, Muslims on this site seem to know little or nothing about Christianity. Many of their statements are inaccurate to the point of being completely untrue. This is not surprising. If you are gullible enough to bet your soul on the word of one single human being, with no credibility other than his own statements, you are not likely to be the sort who goes looking outside the party line.
The bottom line about "Christian hatred of Islam" is this: WE DON'T CARE. Most Chrisitans, before this latest Islamic Crusade, spent about as much time thinking about Islam as they spent changing the oil in their cars. Muslims have always taken themselves a little too seriously. That probably comes from the sting of feeling second-best, Ishmael sent into the desert while Isaac stayed home with dad. This is why they have changed scripture to substitute Ishmael for Isaac in the really big things. "See, we're really the chosen ones, that was all lies in the Bible." Sorry to burst your bubble, Muslims, but when you're not blowing up school buses, you're just not important enough to hate. The rest of us have better things to do with our time. WE REALLY DON'T CARE.
And while I'm at it, before the "Muslim lobby" gets me deleted and starts mounting a protest outside the Yahoo! home office, I am SERIOUSLY SICK of this double talk about the treatment of women under Islam. Muslims can quote all the "nice" verses they want, make their smug little comments about how Muslim women had rights since Muhammed that Western women are just getting, but any "religion" where the founder goes into verse after verse about the acceptable ways to hit a woman is NOT A RELIGION THAT RESPECTS WOMEN. That stuff comes straight out of the "prophet's mouth", folks, so don't EVEN play the cultural card with me on this one.
Okay, so my answer is long-winded and opinionated. Somebody show me where I've said anything verifyably false, and I will print a retraction and apology in capital letters. Otherwise, Muslims, you need to spend some serious effort and JUST GET OVER YOURSELVES.

I hear you. They show more outrage over cartoons than over some guy who blows himself up on a crowded bus.

If a person is true to Islam then they will be violent towards infidels.

I agree.
They only get really upset when people make comments or criticize their religion.
For instance in Europe, when they had posted a cartoon about Mohammed, they went insane and protested with rage.
Look at this picture http://www.meetanatheist.com/uploaded_images/tolerantmuslims1-722307.jpg
That is peace to them.

get a grip, willya? maybe you didn't HEAR muslim leaders denouncing terrorism (which the VAST majority did, publicly and openly) because you were too busy screaming about the 'evil islamofascists' and glued to the tube while faux news spoon-fed you a steady diet of anti-islamic hate and propaganda?
