We've had lots of kittens. About 3-4 weeks they start to roam so I block off a corner of their room with boards (about 8 or 10' square area so lots of room to play) with litter box & dry kitten food & water.(and a little canned food sometimes to help them start eating) This is as much to protect them from getting stepped on as keeping them from messing up the house. Have bare floor- no good rugs- & a towel or something to sleep on & a place to hide. After a couple more weeks they'll be climbing out & be alot more aware & be litter trained. Then we give up & let them move around more but keep doors closed to the cellar & other rooms they shouldn't be in. About 7 weeks we give them away. Cute, aren't they?

No. he's in basic terms too youthful yet. on the age this is it may leap into the bathroom and drown case in point. If it gets scared at any time, it may climb up interior the backside of the settee, chairs the container springs of the beds, squeeze into drawers closets, and so forth. God forbid you have a recliner or rocker at your domicile of abode by way of fact a hiding kitten can get killed that way! you could think of it seems secure yet you're actually not the dimensions of an itty bitty 8 week old toddler kitten. there is extremely not something incorrect with protecting that kitten on your mattress room till this is 3 months old. The kitten wouldn't have been separated from that's mom till it became into 12 weeks yet now that think ofyou've have been given it, you're in charge for secure practices. Your kitten hasn't chewed on any wires by way of fact it hasn't been able to chunk! each and every so often they are able to't even chunk kitten kibble by way of fact their enamel and jaws are actually not good sufficient. So do not assume there'll be no chewing! i don't recommend letting it out till you're domicile. in case you're actually not domicile, decrease back on your mattress room. have faith me at 8 weeks there are purely some thousand issues it may get into mischief with in that one room by myself! So no, not yet! extra advantageous secure than sorry! Now circulate love on the kitten for me!

I think you should keep them confined until at least 7 or 8 weeks old. They're very small at 4 weeks and there's a lot that they can get into. At 7-8 weeks, they're old enough to be away from their mother.

It depends on how diligent you are. If you have your eyes open to things that they could hurt themselves on BEFORE
they actually get hurt, then now's fine.

For the majority of people, however, keeping them in a large area at first makes it easier to keep an eye on them. Also you need to make sure they always have a litter box nearby- they have tiny bladders and accidents are easier to prevent than to have to correct.

As they get older they'll start wanting more areas to explore- you'll be able to tell.

It's awesome that you have 2. Spay/Neuter!

i waited until mine were about 10 weeks to let them out of "their room" (the guest room) alone without my supervision.. i would let them run around so long as i was home for a few weeks before then though.. but both of mine were the runts of their litter so they were really small..

point being u dont want to a.. lose them.. or b.. let them get into something (wires.. cabinets.. etc) without u watching them.. either way.. watch them for the first few weeks to see the spots they run to.. and make sure ur house is kitty proof.. trust me.. they find things to mess up.. get into.. and hurt themselves with that you wouldnt even think of!!

They'll be ready to roam soon. Give them another week or two, depending on when Momma weans them.
