Practice your ho ho ho's, put on some weight (I heard mince pies and sherry should do the trick) grow a beard and moustache (helpfull if your hair's white) buy yourself a red suit and a sack then apply to your local shopping centre, sure they'd be impressed with the effort.
Seriously, I had a friend that was an elf and she found it in the local job centre and went back every year. Good job, you get 10 months of the year off!

Send a letter applying for a position of assistant Santa to:
Cheerful old Chap,
The North Pole,
Santaland... You have left things a little late so all the best jobs have been taken - you could be put in charge of stable mucking out or fodder fetcher but there is no chance of getting hold of a sack. You will find there is a seven year apprentice scheme leading up to 2nd assistant sack bearer. However if this sort of life is what you wish, go for it - but a word of warning, you DO NOT get all summer off, toys need making and shipping from China, the warehouse needs cleaning and the sleigh needs its runners greasing at least once per week, a noxious smelly job due to the rancid grease used, (Old Chip Fat) and you will find there are few girls who can take to a man smelling of out of date chips.
Still interested..? call me during normal office hours and I'll send you the application forms. Mr H Dayze. Santa's CEO.

Begin by attending the Charles W. Howard Santa School in Midland, Michigan this mid-October. I first attended three years ago and the rest is history! I have had the opportunity to serve as the jolly ol' elf around the state of Michigan in a variety of capacities. And you won't find a finer group of people to network with.

I'd start looking now. Approach companies yourself and ask. Santa season will soon be here. Good luck I hope you find what you're looking for.

At my local college (Weston Super Mare) they do a course to teach you how to be a Santa, I think they also used to do one to teach you how to be an elf, there may be a course at a college somewhere near you?
