If I say my kids, I'm contantly corrected their not kids anymore. If I say my children, I'm reminded they're not children. Are they off-springs what is the correct way to speak of them?

They will always be your children first of all. Someone just likes to bother you. Other thasn that say son, daughter, sons and daughters, etc.

Well if they're not children then they should stop acting like children!

This is just silly, they will always be your kids. My mom still calls me her brat and I'm 35.

Usually when someone says, "and these are my kids J & K", it's said with a great deal of pride. Anyone who's offended by that needs their head read.

They'll smarten up when the have thier own.

You call them anything you want to, including "brats" if they think they need to correct their mother. Like it or not they are "kids" until the day you die. You might want to remind them of that.

I am reminded of something that has happened in my business of insurance sales to seniors. Many times these elderly people will say that "the kids" need to look over things for them. Many times "the kids" are in their 60's and 70's and parents and grandparents themselves.

Don't let them bully you.

We're all grown up and my mom still calls us her kids. That's what we are, her kids. When someone is rude enough to correct you on something so small as lovingly referring to your grown-babies as "kids," just tell them "they'll always be my kids, no matter how old they are. And I'll always be their mom, even when they're 50." You call them that out of love, just like my mom does. And just like I will one day when my babies are grown. Don't let the small minds of others ruin expressing the love for your babies that you feel in your heart. If it is your kids themselves saying this, just say "you'll always be my babies." Then they'll understand you are not saying it to be derogatory.

Personally, I think since you gave birth to them you can call them whatever you want. If they're so sensitive about being called children, call them your son(s) or daughter(s). They can't argue with that!

Ps
I'm 51 years old and don't mind when my mother says I'm her kid.

Who exactly is correcting you? That is ridiculous. They will always be your children or kids. I call mine my daughter because I only have one, but now I say "my girls" because I have her and two dogs.

I call my daughter my "Birdie" because that is the nickname she's had from me since she was 3 days old. She will always be called my Birdie and she loves it because it is a special term I use for her.

Well, you could say your son or daughter. Just introduce them seperately like:
Hi I'd like you to meet my son Jeffrey and my daughter Jenna or whatever. I personally would just say my children. If they have a problem with it then they obviously have some more growing up to do.

They will always be your children no matter how old they get. You continue to call them your children or kids ; - )

No matter what, they will forever be your kids, children, babies even. You call them what you feel comfortable with calling them (as long as it isn't bad of course...lol). Sometimes my mom says, "My daughters." Other times she says, "My kids." It is all up to you.

They will always be your kids or children. Tell them to shut up, you are their parent and they don't have the right to correct you.
