How can you be sure you are or are not more than a body?

How much evidence does a person need to conclude he is more than a body? Individual choice, probably.

Once a person chooses to believe he's nothing more, probably not much open-minded investigation follows.

A lot of people use emotion as reasoning for a soul, however research has shown that emotions can be traced to some sort of chemical cause.

The only way I can think of to find out (in this lifetime anyway), is to develop technology that would enable us to "see" whatever extra there may be. To do that, a lot more research into particles and forces that we can't see is needed, and it should be entirely viable with a technological method, since those who claim the soul's existance claim it affects them, so whatever it is, it must be able to react with matter.

It's relatively simple to be relatively certain. Absolute certainty, while not outright impossible, is technologically infeasible presently.
But if look at perceivable phenomena and its interaction with reality, and non-perceivable phenomena's interaction, you'll see that almost everything that happens has been explained, and those that haven't could have a million non-superstitious solutions. By that rationale, you can be more than 80% sure there is no soul.

It's science. Our brains (thoughts, memory, etc.), work on chemicals and electrics, just like any animal (this counts for everyone, also christians). When the body dies, the control unit doesn't work anymore, and everything stops. The story about some sort of god blowing a soul in the human mind or something like that, is no less than ridiculous.

The spiritual birth happens at this point "regeneration", by the Holy Spirit .
Our spiritual eyes are opened.
The human soul has the ability to categorize human phenomena and responds to people.
The Human Spirit has the ability to absorb and categorize spiritual phenomena and responds to God.
John 4:24 God is spirit and those who worship Him worship in Spirit and in truth Bible.
This is how we can be sure .
We cannot prove it to anyone it is God the Holy Spirit's job .

The fact that you desire companionship when you're lonely. Or the fact that you get angry when someone humiliates you. There's something INSIDE the body that reacts to certain stimuli that never touch the body.

This has to be come to by faith, and reasoning. I have seen the soul of evil, which is in command of a country, and the soul of purity, which is the Holy Ghost. I do not mean I have seen visions, but rather sense the prescence of good and evil, which is a function of the soul.
