The tissues and nerves in that area are injured and send a sensation of pain to the brain so that necessary healing / repair mechanisms start acting. If we did not feel pain, we may not be able to heal.

Im not sure what type of wound you mean - but a skin wound/cut - will usually hurt more a few days after the injury -as the skin pulls tight and knits together - this does hurt a little.

It depends on the wound, need a little more info, but if its leaking pus and hurts, has red streaking or if you start running a fever, go see a doctor you might have other problems
