So he is urinating more. This has been happening for over a week now. I thought about Diabetis but he is not losing weight. He is in fact overweight (a question that I asked about last week). So if it is not diabetis then what else can it be?

The most likely answer is diabetes even without the weight loss. There can alkso be other things that many be relayed to the kidneys
Go to the pharmacy and get some ketodiastic reagent strips to check the urine and see if sugar is spilling in. If so then you know it s diabetes.
Many vets aren't up to date on diabetes treatment and some treatments can be dangerous. Please contact me if your cat does have diabetes so i can help you learn and your cat get through this..
If it is diabetes
Some vets like to keep the cat for a few days to try and regulate them at the vets office. Cats cannot be regulated at the vets so refuse this service, tell the vet you want to start on a LOW dose of iunsulin (no more then 1 unit 2x daily) and have the vet teach you how to give shots and other basics.
Realize that diabetes is not a death sentence, no life span is lost and yor cat can live a long happy life

It can be diabetes, the fact that he is overweight actually is an indication towards this. He doesn't necessarily lose weight if he has diabetes.
It could also be a problem of his kidneys, which can be serious if not treated early with special food and so on.
For both of the above issues, he must go to the vet for blood tests (glucose, urea, creatinine, etc).
He should also have a urine analysis for a urinary tract infection or crystals, which can be very dangerous for male cats because they cause blockage.
Also know that:
1. if he has had a bad fall, he may have a rupture inside and therefore drink more, but this is unlikely, because he would also lie there in horrible pain after 2-3 days, he wouldn't act normally.
2. if he is stressed or sad his blood sugar may rise and he may drink more, without being diabetic. Is there any reason why he may be stressed? (my cat has that whenever we change house for holidays, whenever I bring another cat at home, etc.).

Get her to the Vet ASAP. It may be heat, but those are classic symptoms of kidney problems. We have had 2 cats with these problems, one had to be put down soon after the kidney diagnosis, are most recent lived 3 years after diagnosis with the proper treatment. This involved giving her subcutaneous fluids from an IV drip 2 times a week and being put on a special cat food. Old girl lived to be almost 19! But by all means, get her to the Vet immediately, even more important if she's a senior cat. Good luck!

One of my cats drinks loads. They have their own glass of water next to my bed and one of her favourite things to do is sit there and she drinks and drinks. I was worried about diabetes and when I got her checked for another problem I mentioned the drinking and the vet did a urinary test and said there was no diabetes and that she must just like to drink water!

She actually suffers from anxiety and the last vet I saw said it might be a sign of her anxiety and that she finds it comforting

I would definitely advise you get him checked out but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem

The cat must be taken to the vet. Trust me- my cat died in March same symptoms for months and the vet misdiagnosed diabetes because she was overweight and didn't appear to be losing weight. I'm not saying your cat will die but please learn from our tragedy. Overweight cats are more prone to diabetes etc like humans so if , and hopefully, the vet gives the all clear then ask about R/D diet that will help your cat tone to it's right weight more easily! The tests might cost a bit but a urine sample or blood test will be able to tell if it is diabetes!

i found this paragraph on the internet and copy and pasted here for you to read. good luck with your cat.

Often cats, as they get older, develop problems with their kidneys. They are not able to concentrate their urine and therefore lose too much water in the urine. To replace this loss they need to drink more than usual. If the cats thirst has increased I would strongly suggest you take her to be examined by your vet.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/ZPtKr

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Could be lots of things, I'd have a word with the vet. Medical problems aside, it could just be that being fat in warm weather is making him hot. Cats can't pant or sweat.

Ask for your entrée being served on a bed of greens rather than bed of pasta or mashed apples.
