Why would you join any organisation that admits that it will kill you if you try to leave?
I would insist that before he makes his conversion official, that he should strive to become the very best muslim possible. He should read the Koran cover to cover, as well as the Bukhari and Tabari hadiths (especially Tabari). If this isn't enough to turn his stomach, then ain him at a couple of websites that will take this hodgepodge of contradictory garbage and put it into perspective:
http://www.prophetofdoom.net/Prophet_of_Doom_Islams_Terrorist_Dogma_in_Muhammads_Own_Words.Islam. More than half of this online book consists of quotes directly fromt he Koran and Sunnah. A must read. The website also has the book on audio, which I prefer.
http://www.faithfreedom.org/ is a website by and for apostate muslims. Let him hear it from their own words how they escaped the worlds biggest, most successful cult.
If either of these sites is banned in your country (they are in most muslim countires), use the software from http://tor.eff.org/ to hide your tracks and get around the block.

First of all, I would pray for that friend. I guess I would not have been good enough of a friend if I have not been an example of what real is the christian life. Then I would encourage my friend to attend church with me to get counseling. But honestly and Lord willing that would never happen. Obviously our friendship will have to end because in the bible it says to not be unequally yoked.

Be respectful of your friends decision. Religion is a personal choice based on what feels right inside. No one has the right to try and change another persons belief. I know how it feels as I am a pagan. This seems to some, not all, christians the right to be quite obnoxious towards me as they still believe the hurtful lies the church said about us. If you are a good friend then be supportive, otherwise you could lose your friend.

My good friend is Muslim, but he can believe what he wishes because I do. As long as he doesn't start trying to convert me I don't care.

peace be upon you
if you are his best friend too. be sure ,he will start and tell you why he did and will advice you to be with him and fill your heart with this light.
if you are his best friend ,he will want you with him in the paradice .you will be convinced but only listen to him and to what make him take that decision.
your heart will relax from this worry about religions forever if only you give urself a chance to listen.

Perhaps you do not know what a best friend means to ask such a question. A friend is a friend.

I would share with him what I believe the truth to be and pray for him that he would see the truth. Would not kill him which is what Muslims are allowed to do if someone leaves Islam.
