Do you find them humorous or do you think they trivialize God even more than He is in our culture today? Or a mix of the two?

Short answer - no, they are not humorous in my eyes, and yes, they trivialize God. Look at our world today - very few people love and respect God. Most just pay lipservice to a particular religion to fit in. It's sad, for sure.

Long answer - personally, I find movies like these crass and tasteless. That applies to ALL movies that stereotype and poke fun at all religions and peoples, not just Christians. Humor is one thing, but witless, ignorant parody is quite another.

I don't get up in arms about it - I simply don't watch the movies myself because they insult my personal beliefs. In this world, if we Christians got hot under the collar at every single offensive thing, we'd all die of stress-related illnesses within weeks. Or pack up and go live like hermits in caves somewhere.

You don't have to accept these sorts of things; but unless there's a good reason to speak out, just don't expose yourself to them. I'm a firm believer that being an example and living a good Christian life (w/o being a complete hypocrite!) does more to win people over than preaching at them.

So the next time your friends or family want you to go see a movie of this sort, just say, "No thanks. I wouldn't feel comfortable watching it." And leave it at that. If they know you're a Christian, they'll be impressed that you stand by your beliefs but don't get on a high horse and preach at them. If they ask, then you can go into more detail about why you don't want to watch it.

Oh God grow to be humorous. Bruce Almighty i think of confirmed how shall we under no circumstances be a God. I enjoyed the section the place he have been given some thing like one thousand million emails, and that grow to be jsut from the city he lived in. in basic terms god could cope with that plenty quantity!

Those two movies are good comedies. Bruce Almighty definitely is NOT a family film, but a good laugh for adults (in contrast Evan Almighty is great for the whole family).

I find them somewhat humorous. How much do we as the church trivialize Him every week with our forms of worship that are more about our comfort than about Him.

Bruce Almight was pretty funny but over all those movies don't reflect real the real God.

All publicity is good publicity.
if you can get people to watch a movie that tells them about God, even if its just Jim Carrey in a robe, thats a good thing.
every time the topic of God is brought up that is another oppurtunity to share your faith.

I think they are just a sign of the times, and I could very easily do without them. Far more offensive is "The Da vinci Code".
