It's better to have an inquiring mind than to latch on to the most convenient explanation.

Search!!!!!
How can one truly claim to have found the truth if they don't have "lies" to compare it to?
There are plenty of prepackaged sets of beliefs in the world, and if there really is a God then most likely at least one of them is right. This will make the search easier, but not remove the need for it altogether.

prepackaged sets of beliefs are those handed down, and are typically good models to follow until you can find your own truths. You can't just follow your own impulses all the time because they're often decieving.
Jack it's amazing that they're thumbing down believing in the truth.

The prepackaged variety is easier, but the searched answers are far more satisfying!

Never go along with something just because it's what you've been raised with. Your beliefs aren't real until they're your own. At the same time, while under your parents guidance you need to respect them and comply with obedience. I was raised in a wonderful Christian home and so I just knew what was expected of me. I was meant to become a Christian and do devotions and go to church and be a good example. I did all that for 16 years. The whole time I had an emmense fear of death and I was always full of doubt and I couldn't conquer any of my problems. Then when I was 17 my heart was open to God and He revealed Himself to me. That was when I knew Christianity was real and I became a true follower of Christ. He is my God, my Rock, and I follow Him wholeheartedly. He isn't my parents God, He is my God. I thank Him though that I was raised in a Christian home because it made it easier for me to find Him. Search for God until you find Him, and He wants you to come to Him, He loves you.

NO one comes to the Father but by the Son, and no one comes to the Son but by personal faith. This would exclude "prepackaged beliefs".

Its better not to have beliefs at all,but to base what you know on reason and evidence.
Belief implies an opinion held despite rather than because of these things.

I believe searching for your own beliefs is the most fulfilling. I serched along time before I found out that Greek Polytheism. I have been with it ever since.
Gods bless you on your Journey.

if you're looking for the beach in hawaii, it's far better to find a path, and i'll tell you why, SOMEONE went down there, more likely more than one, and with success! If i do it myself, I am not sure of success, and it is sure to be full of thorns, cuts, poky rocks etc.
if you don't care where you're going, it's fun to explore. But don't get lost....
:-)
edit,
if you see the people going down the path look crazy, weird or have bloody toes, or look exhausted, or it just doesn't feel right to you, i'd find another path, there are many to choose from :-P
