Are you more comfortable in a mega church, average (50-200), or smallish church (50 people)? And why?

My church has about 700 or so. It has its perks (more people=more programs) and its drawbacks (hard to know everyone).

Honestly, it all depends on the church. If I feel that the message and the mission of the church is in the right place, then I feel comfortable. If people are in church for the wrong reason (IE Tuberoot's example) then it doesn't matter how big it is.

The trick I have found in the "mega" church is to be actively involved--teach a class, be in the choir, etc... This puts you in a place where people will know who you are, and you will get to meet more people than by just showing up on Sunday and going home after service. Fellowship is, after all, one of the four fundamental reasons for the church (Acts 2).

I've been a a "mega church" and I am now part of a Church that has a bout 50 people in it for Sunday worship. I really don't believe that the size of the church matters--The imoprtant thing is that the Lord always be in our minds and hearts and actions whether there be 2 people or 20,000. Personally, I like the closeness of my Church. We're a small body, but a powerful one. Our fellowshiping is incredible and although there are always little kinks in every church, we're a family and we honestly try to improve our service. Our Pastor is fanatastic--he truly loves the poeple of God. I'm sure tht one day the Lord will smile on him and say: Servant, you've done a good job.

So I guess, size doesn't count, the Lord leads each person to the place where he/ she belongs. For some it's big, for others small--each unique.

Have a great day!

the infrastructure itself does not really matter... it depends on the people who go inside the church... what's the use of having a mega church if only a few comes inside...

however, I prefer to have a manageable size or number of churchgoers where I could hear the speaker/priest/coach/pastor clearly and not the the gossips or snore of my fellow churchgoers... there is no use of having a comfortable church if the people inside do not have discipline...

preferring smallish church is not on the infrastructure per se but more of the manageability of the people inside it...

It matters in the sense that a big church means theres that many people saved. Numbers dont really matter though, i dont try to get people saved just to make my church grow. The only church i want to expand is the Kingdom of heaven.

Size matters because people matter to God! I would much rather have a growing, thriving church where people are encouraging each other and putting their faith into action like the church in Acts: "And the Lord added to their number DAILY those who were being saved." -Acts 2:47

No idea why I got a thumbs down. I guess someone is opposed to the church growing as a result of people being saved. If Heaven rejoices over people being saved, shouldn't we?

"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." -Luke 15:7

I've never been to a "mega" church. Church is for you, not others...it really doesn't matter.

Yes. Size does matter. lol

I would rather get lost in a crowd than have the 'church ladies' gossip about me in a small church.

Anyone. I'm there for God, not the church size.

aslong as God is in the church and everybody who is there is there for God, it makes no difference whatsoever.
