I'm not referring to scratching items, but scratching people, e.g. when we have to do something she doesn't like, like clean her eyes, etc.

No no, it shouldn't! :) My mom has used softpaws on our cats for a long time. The only problem is that one of our cats always manages to bite them off! haha! But other than that I think they are great!

Ofcourse, if you try them out and the cat becomes aggressive in another way, stop using them.. But I highly doubt that is going to happen.

I wouldn't think so but I know de-clawing sure does. There are lots of alternatives for you to do if you don't want to cover your cat's claws. If she's scratching furniture, get some of that anti-cat spray at Petco and spray it on the furniture. Get a scratching post with the rope around it. Cat's LOVE scratching the rope and since I've used those I have never had a problem with my cats scratching anything else. When you introduce the new rope covered post spray liquid catnip on it. That will drive your cat to scratch what she's supposed to scratch.
