Christians who try to convert others often operate on the notion that if a person is not a Christian then they must not have heard about the faith and so thus should be told all about it whether they would want to hear it or not.Why this prideful arrogance toward non Christians? Why these assumptions about what non Christians know or don't know about Christianity?

Perhaps it is the way that they were/are indoctrinated by their blind teachers, that's why. At times they may also want to show off to others the "knowledge" that they have memorized so far and simply don't know when to stop talking and start listening to the other person.

That's only an educated guess. I could be wrong.

Peace be with you.

Matthew 28:16-20--We're just following orders.

I don't like to make assumptions, just because I don't want to say something that will be misinterpreted, misunderstood, etc... If someone is receptive to hearing what I have to say (and I mean IF) I will find out what they have already learned. This gives me a baseline for not only what they do not know, but what they may have been taught in error.

And I seldom start with anything from the Bible. Most people have preconceptions about it, and for some it is hard to take it seriously because of these conceptions. It is easier and more effective to talk about someones own beliefs; they feel more comfortable, they appreciate you understanding their position, and they will in turn be more receptive to you when you want to share your beliefs in return.

And they feel that the words should be enough. They don't stop long enough to think that their actions need to reflect their words if they want to be effective ministers.

Demo, we are called to. This is a major part of what Jesus taught us to do. Whats important is in love and to chill if the other person is uncomfortable. There is no way to force beliefs unto another person, so we have to guage how the other person is feeling. Also, verbally isnt always necessary when sharing your faith. Actions speak so loudly, sometimes this is an even better way to share. I do wish you didnt see this as prideful arrogance, for this is not to show the world we are "right" or "better" its to show the world what the Lord has done for us.

It's like this:
People give themselves away ALL the TIME! They say things that are total blatant things that basically say: " I don't know crap about God."

Now someone like me will wait to see if there is any curiosity idle or not about God. If there isn't then I figure that the person is yet another lost person without the least bit of interest. So I will say nothing. I know that only those with genuine curiosity and sometimes a burning desire to know things; they ask a different set of questions, and receive the answers differently.

If you do not have the slightest bit of interest in knowing God, then you have a problem. You have spiritually undiscerning Christians to contend with. They are under the common thought that God wants EVERYONE to be saved. And He doesn't! I hope you fare well with them. They can be a pain in the butt!

Lenny, permit me grant you with the benevolent view of what you observed on that internet site !!! that's going to be obtrusive to anybody who learn the era of Constantine that he grew to become into not a theology expert or that he placed politics above his faith and included some undesirable theology with the corporate of the Roman Catholic Church !!! He had conquered many pagan territories and at instituting the church he tailored pagan practices with a view to not lose them yet cause them to an element of the equipment !!! He grew to become into not a purist in terms of practice of religion and did not adhere to what the disciples taught !!! Somethings he did grew to become into blended pagan trip journeys with the delivery and resurrection of Christ !!! This has exchange right into a huge situation right this moment because of the fact the athiests are accusing the christian church of being heathen because of the fact of that and characteristic led many off purpose via one reality by myself !!! He created a great branch between jews and christians that even did not exchange even after Luther's reformation !!! those are lots of the failings that choose changing in our day !!! It has exchange into incumbant upon us and the church to objective to superb a number of those errors with the wonderful coaching of scriptures !!! So Constintine began the practice of 'adapt the religion' and the Jesuits have accomplished it ever considering the fact that !!! we actually fail God with the shortcoming of knowlege !!!

What pisses me off the most is Christians who claim I never was a Christian to begin with or that I don't know the bible ect. Nothing annoys me more than that. I think it's because it scares them to think that I was once like them. The only difference between us now is that I decided to see what was outside the box and they can't even push open the lid to peak outside.

Many claim that "ex Christians" never were Christians so they do not have to honor your terms in an honest debate. You were never in the book of life, they say. If they had to honor a smattering of logic, they'd be questioning their own faith.

I think you just have to cut them slack. Their minds have been overcome by this algorithm that forces them to spread the disease. It's like a chain letter.. "believe and spread the word and good things will happen.. ignore the word and bad things will happen". In the words of Frank Zappa you have to give the schmucks some slack.

They do it because they love you. We want to remind you that God loves you more than anything, and there is only one way to eternal salvation, and that is acknowledging all that Christ has done for you, and repenting. We are just trying to get our lost and dying brothers and sisters saved. Is that such a horrible thing?
