My grandmother is a 90 year old widow. She is struggling to survive on my deceased grandfathers social security check. She only worked small, low paying jobs throughout her life and also owned a small day care for poor families when she was in her 70's and 80's. She only gets about 750-800 a month from my grandfathers check. That is her only income. Is there anyway she could be eligible for another social security check? Her own? And if she recieves her own check will she be elgible for the social security check she has been getting? What can I do to learn more? THANKS TO ALL!

Sorry, but all she can get is one social security check, either a social security check based on her own earnings, or one based on her husband's. That's all. I have attached a link to the social security website if you have any further questions.

she is probably getting the maximum right now that she is eligible for....you cannot draw two checks for "retirement" social security. She is not drawing a check from your grandfather, rather a check based on the amount of money he made and her's combined and then adjusted.
One thing that you can look in to is Medicaid and Food Stamps. That will help with food, medicine and additional medical fees that she is probably incurring.
It may not be much, but at least it will help. You should contact your local family and children's services in your county and make an appointment. Won't hurt to try.

As a widow, she already gets the higher of her own benefit of that of her deceased husband. Can't get both. But contact your local area agency on aging - they might know of other programs she might be eligible for.
