Is it possible for me to become a Border Patrol agent (read on please)???

**Hopefully this question wont get deleted like some others ive had (let me voice my views please...i have as much right to voice my views as anybody who is pro illegal)

in short, ive been thinking about contributing something good in this immigration issue. and by coincidence,when i was having fun at the state fair this past Wednesday, i saw a booth of the Border Patrol agents. they were recruiting. i was very surprised. i wasnt expecting that. but i didnt go up to them and ask any questions. it would have felt weird if i did. but i am wondering if i can actually join. im only worried about my body size. i am a girl, im only 5'4. does size matter??? or would i be better off working for immigration in another type of job??

#1 Chicano....you're probably right about some agents abusing their power...i dont doubt it. I would NEVER abuse my powers...my intentions arent to hurt anybody. i may be against illegal immigration, but i dont have that kind of heart. i just want to enforce the laws. dont worry, i wouldnt hurt anybody. i would enforce the laws in a humane way. Ok, size does matter to a degree. If you can't drive a pool vehicle then you can't do the job. (Patrol vehicles can't be customized and that has been an issue in the past.)

However, having said that, 5'4" is plenty tall enough. There are numerous agents 5'4" and shorter. As far as everything else, we'll train you for that.

Chances are that you could get a job with them There are lots of ways in which a person can work in the Border Patrol other than being field agents. And many skills are needed other than braun. Don't take it personally,but I have always been opposed to females being in actual field positions in law enforcement anyway,so if your size is a hinderance I would personally consider that a good thing. I mean seriously can you personally imagine yourself right now in a fight with a man,even one of your size who is trying to get access to your sidearm,and how do you think you will come out of that fight? Statistically the fact is,as a woman you are going to lose. It's just a basic fact of nature that most women are not strong enough,or mean enough to fare well in physical confrontations of that magnitude.

So if you want to join the Border Patrol I support it,but I think you should carefully examine what role you plan to play there.

Sounds like #1 Chicano has been drinking the anti Border Patrol Kool-Aid again. "Known for beating and killing immigrants" Please give me a break!

Size does not matter. I'm sure their is something for you to do there. I really hope your the type of person that would want to be there for the right reason. Their is a lot of corruption there. Officers abuse their powers allot. They are known for beating and killing illegals. It would be nice to hire good hearted people who can enforce the law with out breaking it. Thats what the U.S. should stand for.Hopefully your the type of person that can contribute a nice balance.Good luck!

Size does matter but if you are mean and fast on the draw you wold probably be OK... JUst remember if a drug dealer comes across the border you are better off to kill IT Don't wound IT or you will be put in Jail...

You should contact them if you are interested in the job. they will let you know what they require as far as size ect. I am sure they can still use you. good luck.
