Lots of people get married at 19 my mom did then got divorced and married my dad! I think that they are telling you are to young because they dont want you to miss out on life! College, traveling meeting new and exciting people, a great career! Things the 27 years has done already and now wants to find someone to settle down and well you didnt get to do those things and no offence when you turn 21 and hes 31 he probably wont want to go to the club and be that old guy!! Sorry but i think that its the 10 year age difference!!

The difference between then and now is family structure and responsibilities are changing. When choosing a partner, things like life goals, spending money, college education and kids become serious issues. And although mature for your age, at 17 you cannot know where you stand on all those issues since it requires life experience for real understanding. There is no need to rush. Finish school and go out with your friends your own age.

How responsible and mature you are is not the reason they are telling you you are too young. They are simply looking out for your best interest, being able to go to college, explore, and meet other men. That is why they think you are too young. In my experience, any friends that I have had that were together through high school and got married immediately after are now divorced.
Not to say this is going to happen to you. If you are happy and feel ready, then marry this man. Don't try to explain to them you are old enough, tell them, "I am ready to marry this man and that is all there is to it."

Read through some of the marriage and divorce questions in YA. Everyone who got married is wishing they didn't.
Dosen't matter when you get married if you realize it's for life and take it seriously.

Nothing you can say or do is going to convince anyone. Only time can change that, and a lot of it. I don't think anyone respected me as an adult until I turned 30, so just be patient.

Ignore the naysayers, what does your fiance think and your parents think?
Those would be the only opinions that would matter to me.
