I want to begin working with models but I'm wondering if my Canon Rebel (with good lens) is decent enough to get some pro looking shots?

hi, enable me clean some issues first. Canon EOS XSi - 450D - 12 megapixels, extra modern-day sort Canon EOS XTi - 400D - 10 megapixels, older sort. The 450D is of course extra advantageous. It has stay View, 3.5fps, much less noise at ISO 800 and 1600 and intensely good photograph high quality. And those 2 can't recording, the sole insurrection which could is the 500D/T1i for now. XSi and XTi use their liquid crystal demonstrate's for viewing photos, menus and settings, not recording.

I could not agree more with fhotoace.

All too often people fall into the "equipment trap". 99% of the time its the skill of the photographer that really matters. The would-be photographer who thinks that new super fast zoom or ultra wide-angle lens will make him a better photographer is only fooling himself - and enriching the lens manufacturer.

This is not to say that equipment is unimportant. You have to have the equipment that meets the needs of what you're doing - or trying to do.

Having the right equipment and knowing how to use it with skill and vision seperates great/ good photographers from average to mediocre ones.

Robert Capa once said "If your pictures aren't good enough you aren't close enough." That's a strong statement from a combat photographer.

He also said, when asked how he photographed people and captured their essence: "Like people - and let them know it."

Heres just a sample of what the XTi can do. Its actually a really good learning camera since it has all of the manual settings and a good number of auto settings for when manual is overwhelming.

Heres an amerature model and an amerature photog

with a $80 lens. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12142-USA/Canon_2514A002_Normal_EF_50mm_f_1_8.html Its not the greatest lens since its a prime (no zoom) but it gets the job done and is pretty inexpensive.

It is not the camera but the photographer.

Thanks photoace!
