Yes he has the powers to overcome the Brahmastra. Lord Brahma has given him the blessings to defy any Astra even Brahmastra. There is story behind this. When Hanuman was child he jumped into the sky to catch the Lord Sun as he understood that it is a fruit to eat. He reached onto the chariot of Sun. It was the day of Solar Eclipse and the Rahu came over to harm Sun. Hanuman ji had attacked on Rahu thinking that he is here to snatch the fruit. Rahu went to Indra and told about the incident. Indra came and saw that a monkey kid is going to eat Sun. He attacked with Vajra (the Hardest armament). Hanuman was dead with this hit and fallen down on the earth. His father Vayu, became very angry and stopped the air in whole universe. This had led to a complete holocaust. All Devas went to Lord Brahma and said that Vayu dev had stopped air in whole universe and everybody is dying without air. Lord Brahma got to know about all the incident and came near to Hanuman. He had given life to Hanuman. But to propitiate Vayu Dev he asked all Devas to give blessings to Hanuman. At this point Lord Brahma had given Hanuman the blessing to defy any Astra even Brahmastra.

Dear friend,
Hanuman terrified Meghanath or Indrajith in the battle and Meghanath was unable to hit Hanuman with any Astra ,He was frustrated and finally decided to emply Brahmaastra on Hanuman.
When this was done Hanuman fell down because of the power of Brahmastra. But Lord Hanuman was blessed earlier by Brahma himself that Brahmaastra will make him help less or bind him for a moment (muhuurtha maatram).
So he was free immediately after amoment but acted as if he is a cptive to Brahaastra , with an idea that by that he will be taken to Ravan's presence and can see him and advise him.
This is clearly written by Valmiki in Ramayan Sundar kanda verse 40.
'' Tathoadha buddhvaa sa thadhaastra bandham,
Prabhoh prabhavaa dwigataatma veygah
Pitaamahaanugraha matmanashcha
Vichintayamaasa hari praveerah.''
in verse 44 his thinking that he can Ravana is clear.
so Hanunuman was in fact was a captive for Brahaastra, for a moment. You can't say Hanuman had power to break Brahaastra,It is the boon of Brahma that Brahaastra will not harm him, he will be captive momentarily is quite clearly written in Sundara Kanda.
We have to take Valmiki Ramayana as THE STANDAED ONE , because blessed and ordered by Brahma and Naarada the Saga Valmoki Saw with Divya Dristi what happened ,what was happening and what was going to happn abour Rama and wrote as it is.The other Ramaayanas are very good ones no doubt about,They are worshipped too.But when a doubt arised only Vaalmeekam that is Ramaayan by Valmiki is referred.
The other Ramaayanas contain beautiful additional interpolations .these additional things are because the writer in his devotional extacy wrote it with full love and devotiom. So its his imagination. So there are some deviations (though beautiful) from original. So please take Valmeekam as standard and see for answers.
If I am wrong I welcome all to correct me and I will be thankful to all.

One won't be able to understand Hindu Dharma except one knows Hanuman. The worship of Hanuman symbolizes the worship of the very ultimate Lord, for procuring know-how, actual and psychological power, truthfulness, sincerity, selflessness, humility, loyalty, and profound devotion to the Lord. Lord Hanuman symbolizes the traits of an acceptable devotee of God. The letters of his call could be interpreted as: · H = Helpfulness (kindness) · A = Adoration (devotion) · N = Naturalness (sincerity) · U = information (know-how) · M = Modesty (humility) · A = Allegiance (loyalty) · N = Nishkama-karma (selfless paintings in provider of God)

Hanuman had the power to break Brahmastra but he did not do it in the service of the Lord Rama and that Hanuman allowed himself to be bound. Read Tulshidas's Ramayana - Sundarakand -
ब्रह्म अस्त्र तेहि सांधा कपि मन कीन्हं बिचार ।
जौं न ब्रह्मसर मानउँ महिमा मिटइ अपारा ।। (19)
Meghanada ultimately fitted to his bow the arrow known as Brahmastra, when Hanuman thought within himself: “If I submit not to Bramha’s own weapon, its infinite glory will be cast to the winds.” (19)
He launched the Brahmastra against Hanuman, who crushed a whole host even as he fell. When he saw Hanuman had swooned, he entangled the latter in a noose of serpents and carried him off. Now, Parvati, is it conceivable that the envoy of the Lord whose very name enables the wise to cut asunder the bonds of mundane existence should come under bondage? No, it was in the service of the Lord that Hanuman allowed himself to be bound. When the demons heard that the monkey had been captured and noosed, they all rushed to the court in order to enjoy the spectacle. Hanuman arrived and saw Ravana’s court: his superb glory baffled description. Even gods and regents of the quarters stood meek with joined palms, all watching the movement of his eyebrows in great dismay. But the monkey’s soul was no more disturbed at the sight of his power than Garuda would be frightened in the midst of a number of serpents.-
