Do you need to take a lot of video where you would be away from a computer for that period of time? If so, rule out a camera that records to a hard drive. You would then have to decide on MiniDVD, DVD, or the new Mini HD tape like the Canon HV-20.

Do you want VR (vibration reduction)? Really important in large zoom lens. If so, get a camera that uses mechanical (optical) versus digital (software) VR. You lose sharpness if it is in the software. It is the same principal as zoom lens. The digital zooms are basically useless as they are so fuzzy.

I bought the Canon HV-20 and love it. Great qualtiy, good 10x zoom, changeable media, and small.

By the way, it seems strange to me but the best cameras (around $1,000) seem to have zoom lens in the 10x ranges. The cheaper cameras ($400 to $600) have zooms in the 20x to 25x range. Why is that? I can only guess it is because those who want the highest quality also want sharp pictures, which are hard to get when you are bouncing all over the place because the zoom is so large.
