I have a litter of outdoor kittens that are all healthy except the runt which has the gooey, crusty eyes. Will boric acid take care of this problem or do I need to take it to the vet to get eye drops or something? Also I was thinking about bringing it in my house and nursing it back to health because it is also very underweight but will this infect my house cats?

Do to the vet it could be anything, even cat flu. Many things are contagious too so take it to the vet ASAP to see what it is. They might all need to be treated.

It sounds like a respiratory infection and yes, it will most likely infect your house cats- on the other hand, the little one seems like it needs some human intervention- do you have a place where you can isolate the kitten and still care for it- usually, kittens need warmth if they are underweight- like a warm hot water bottle - also- she is probably being pushed aside by her siblings and not getting enough to eat- you can check to see if the Humane Society will help but chances are that if the kitten is under a certain weight, they might not take him- I have been threw this already- I brought home a kitten that was sick and he had a virus of some kind - it turned out to be a common thing but I struggled with it for a while- I still have the kitten and the rest of my cats are healthy and so is he- actually he's two years old now and a decided member of the family. Caring for him as a baby was no small undertaking- he had to be fed frequently ( up in the middle of the night) and kept warm AT ALL TIMES- you know that at first you have to dropper feed them and then rub their tummies so that they can eliminate don't you? It is not a small task to take in a small kitten- anyway- I hope this helps - try to get her to the vet asap though and have her tested for diseases- be sure that you wash your hands allot if you handle her - Good luck!

Try cleaning the cat's eyes morning and night, gently with a cotton bud. Make sure that you use a different bud for each eye, and dispose of them where your other cats can't get them.
If it doesn't clear up after a few days, or gets very bad, you should take him/her to the vet.
It depends how friendly your house cats are, and I think they should be OK with the crusty eyes, as long as you keep the kitten's eyes clean. To be safe though, try to keep them separate.
I also think that it would be wise to take the kitten inside for the time being.

Good luck! By the way, I'm very jealous, sounds like you have a lot of cats!

Take the kitten to the vet. Do not use boric acid on the kittens eyes. Did you choose to have this litter of kittens? Please make sure to contact a rescue group and have the cats fixed before they multiply ten-fold. If the kittens are still friendly and adoptable call a cat rescue (NOT THE ANIMAL SHELTER OR ANIMAL CONTROL) and have them adopted out. If the mother remains feed and care for her. A life without shelter and safety from abusive/demented humans and predatory animals is a miserable life. They don't live long either, especially not the runt, if you leave him on his own. Please take care of them. Thanks

Sounds Like Respitory infection. if not taken care of he could die. also the other kids could get it or may already have it. Mom also could be a carrier. Talk to your vet.

I had this with a litter of kittens it wasn't fun but we fought hard for that kitten.

well you will need to bring it in its not getting enough food the others are eating all of it you can buy pet milk for it. that is what will do or back in the olden days i would give it canned milk stragith from can with eye dropper or little bottle. itw ill make it yes it could give cats in the hosue something. but you will have to get shots at the time it has to have them and check it over or it could have somethign which could get the oterh cats.

It may very well be distemper, which can spread very quickly thru the rest of the cats, and is often times fatal. Get them to the vet, and have them treated and vaccinated.
