If our religious leaders keep tickling our ears with "touchy feely" preaching ? If they are too afraid to tell the truth that would turn people away from sin, how are we to examine ourselves, and how will our hearts be convicted? What say you, Christian?

It's a great question, thanks for sharing it.

I think every Christian should make a thorough search in their locality and find a church where the Leaders are Godly.
And make sure that they are not just professional preachers but they have a genuine concern for the flock.

I think we should not rest until we find such a church.
If we sit in dead churches, we will die spiritually as well.

I would encourage everyone to pray and seek the Lord's guidance in finding a good church, pleasing in his sight.

We are to renew our mind in the Word of God. Scripture. The Holy Spirit convicts us through our newborn spiritman. Where we get that scratch feeling inside. And we cannot abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy Seed within. So, we confess our sins, and He (Jesus) is faithful & just to forgive us our sins & cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus does this by bringing to mind the Word of God by the Holy Spirit. This is washing in the Word. We are to speak Gods promises over the lies of the devil. Because much of our sin is rooted in some lie of the devil that we are believing.

Some preachers preach safe messages. They might have people in the Church, but the people don't really get the cleansing. Faith comes by hearing & hearing a Word about Christ / God. What the Lord wants the preacher to preach for the people what the Lord wants to tell the people. Not the Pastor to preach what the people want to hear all the time.

the Holy Spirit brings conviction no matter what the leaders preach if we are truly after the heart of God. If you have a heart after the things of God you won't be sitting under their leadership in the first place!<><

As a Christian Christ took my sin and made it no more. As far as the east is form the west our sin is no more. Y would I be convicted for something that doesn't exist? As long as I asked for forgiveness and turned from it.

Spirit filled preaching!!!
1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Them becoming saved is the evidence of yielding to God through conviction.

Love the truth. Don't listen to preaching that makes you feel like you're ok.

We walk by faith. If our soul are lifted up within us then it is not upright with God.

Rejoice in the Lord!

Sin saps us of our God-given strength. We become spiritually weak and decrepit, but often we imagine that we're just as hardy as ever.

That's the deceitfulness of sin. Gradually we drift away from God. We lose our desire to spend time in His Word and in prayer. The current of this world carries us away from friends and godly influences. We drift deeper into sin—our pathetic, feeble state evident to all eyes but our own.

That's why we must deliberately take time to ask the Lord to expose our sin. When we turn in repentance to Him, He will receive us graciously, set us free from sin's domination, and arm us again with strength.

I don't know what "leaders" you refer to, but my church teaches from the bible, day in and day out. And I'm convicted plenty!
