For a beginner? A Total Gym. I'm not a beginner and I still use it. It's the thing on TV that Chuck Norris puts out. I believe is very good for beginners because only your body weight is used. depending on the arc that you have the bench set on, determines what % of your body weight you are working out with. The strongest people are those that can lift and support their own weight ;-) check it out. They have a number of edition and add ons. I still have the first one that was put out and it works great. You can do a number or exercises with either one, so choose what's in your budget. Good Luck

My choice would be a Schwinn Airadyne Stationary Bicycle. You get both upper and lower workouts, and the front wheel is a fan that helps keep you cool. No impact and great exercise. Make exercise a part of your day just like brushing your teeth. You'll be glad you did when you are older. Good Luck!!

A rebounder (mini-trampoline). I do own this piece of equipment and it is marvelous for the body. It is handy, doesn't take long to use it in your own home, no jarring of the body, strengthens cells, and improves lymph flow. I always feel better any day I use it.

Easy, a chinning bar. I do a couple hundred pushups and crunches a day, its a great exercise, it doesn't hurt your bones or joints like weights can, it obviously does not cost anything at all, but a chinning bar would let me get the few muscles that pushups miss. Also real cheap. Weights would be OK but like I said they can damage your joints.

I would have a jump rope. It's cheap, you can use it anywhere, and it really strengthens your heart.
My husband and I have bought a lot of expensive equipment, and eash one gets a little use and then just gathers dust. The jumprope and juat going for brisk walks are the only things we stick with, and they cost the least.

My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website
http://www.slim-get.info , they have a free trial and you only pay 5.49$ shipping and handling. Good luck!

If I could only have one, I would go for an elliptical machine. Love them! Great workout - different levels and settings.
