I just recently discovered a grey spot on the white of my daughter's eye. She has an annual exam because she requires glasses. Is this grey spot the Astigmatism the docor is talking about or is it something else? I am going to call in the morning, but I would like to know if this is something to worry about & know what it possibly could be before I call or I won't be able to sleep tonight. It anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you cant see an astigmatism...that refers to the shape of the inside muscle of the eye..instead of the muscle being round like it should be, people with astigmatism have football shaped muscles and it affects the direction of light to the retina causing distortion.

A gray spot in the white could be a nerve that has moved closer to the surface of the eye due to some eye changes or if she is growing. You dont need to worry about it.
Also below the white of the eye is a darker layer that can sometimes show through. It is not anything to worry about either. My son poked himself in the eye with his finger and this happened...sort of a bruise to the eye. It went away...nothing serious.
Thats what I know.

I've read about 'freckles' on people's eyes.
But you should call tommorow, because it could
be something more severe.
I've worn glasses for a little over 2 years, and have never
seen something like that in my eyes. :]
