What are the causes of temperatures of 99 or 100. and nothing above that are not related to illness? I've been real tired and run down lately, working alot. I also take echinacea everyday (about 12 of them or more) and ive been taking that for about a month now, i also take vitamins and vitamin c seperately. Maybe i shouldn't be taking so much echinacea ? (or it shouldn't be taken on an everyday and weekly basis?) Right now it's late, i'm exhausted and the thermometer (oral mouth therm.) is reading 99.0. I'm so lost.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Justin

Water is the answer I believe (what I read here). Are you drinking a gallon a day ( I do and more). The American diet is so polluted with processed and chemically enhanced products we have to flush out the toxins, while trying to function normally. You lose a quart of water a day, just from breathing. Dont underestimate the power of water.

Im not a fan or taking any herb or vitamin in pill form. All this does is go in the stomach and the blood absorbs 10% of the value on a good day. I use a product called superfood and it absorbs into the bloodstream within seconds, instead of hours or days (very little at that).

Also Enchincea is a very powerful herb and I consume it all the time myself. It helps heal the body from all types of issues. I do use a liquid form here as well. Try to get as pure or organic as possible.

You are taking care of your body and you just need some more education and you'll have a healthy life. Keep searching for anwers and you'll like what you find.

Best of health to you

Low grade fevers usually indicate an infection and rarely cancer ( don't want to scare you). Stop taking too much echinacea because you sound toxic and this could be causing your fever. Drink plenty of water ( a gallon is too much) because the temperature in your body can rise due to dehydration. Excercise care when taking herbs because these could be contaminated with toxins and the level of the active ingredient will vary unless it is standardized. The vitamin c should be in the form of slow-release or buffered. Many people don't realise that regular vitamin c can actually make you feel tired. Too much vitamin c can cause diarrhea or "stones". Try taking some slow-release iron because you might be anemic, CoQ 10, L- carnosine, L- carnitine ( for energy), and some L-Lysine ( to fight the viral infection). Don't take any garlic tablets as this can also cause you to feel tired. Take the L-lysine instead of the echinacea ( I'm sure you have overdosed) Get some rest.

some people's baseline temp (their normal) can run above the established 98.6

exhaustion, certain medications, or strenous exercise can cause a rise in your temp.

as long as you're not reaching temps at 100.0 or higher then i wouldn't be too concerned.

you could aslo be at the very beginning of an oncoming virus or cold. sometimes feeling tired and having a low-grade fever are the first signs of becoming sick.

for now rest and ease of the echinacea. the max dose you should be taking is 900mg per day. so check how many mg are in each capsule you normally take and don't exceed that amount. It could be causing your body to try and fight off the excess amount you've been taking, causing your temp to rise.

hope this helps

everyone's body temp is different. But I think I would get it checked out to just be on the safe side. The only reason you would run a fever would be because you have some kind of a infection in your body.

Temperatures of up to 100 are normal in human adults, and body temperature can vary by a whole degree every day. You might naturally just be warmer than average. You might also be warmer during some parts of the day or night than you are during other parts of the day or night. If you're female, it might just be a warm time of month for you. Experiencing strong emotions can raise the temperature in certain parts of the body too. There are lots and lots of factors that can affect body temperature.

If you stay up late or work too much, it could explain why you're tired.

Can a high body temperature be dangerous?
Heatstroke occurs when the body fails to regulate its own temperature, and body temperature continues to rise. Symptoms of heatstroke include mental changes (such as confusion, delirium, or unconsciousness) and skin that is red, hot, and dry, even under the armpits.

Classic heatstroke can develop without exertion when a person is exposed to a hot environment and the body is unable to cool itself effectively. In this type of heatstroke, the body's ability to sweat and transfer the heat to the environment is reduced. A person with heatstroke may stop sweating. Classic heatstroke may develop over several days. Babies, older adults, and people with chronic health problems have the greatest risk of this type of heatstroke.

Exertional heatstroke may develop when a person is working or exercising in a hot environment. A person with heatstroke from exertion may sweat profusely, but the body still produces more heat than it can lose. This causes the body's temperature to rise to high levels.

Both types of heatstroke cause severe dehydration and can cause body organs to stop functioning. Heatstroke is a life-threatening medical emergency, requiring emergency medical treatment.

. In women, ovulation causes an increase of one-half to one degree Fahrenheit (one-quarter to one-half degree Celsius) in basal body temperature (BBT); monitoring of BBTs is one way of estimating the day of ovulation. The tendency of a woman to have lower temperatures before ovulation, and higher temperatures afterwards, is known as a biphasic pattern. Charting of this pattern may be used as a component of fertility awareness.

The higher levels of progesterone released by the corpus luteum after ovulation raise BBTs ( Basal Body Temperature) .

98.6 degrees is an average. This means that you can have a temperature naturally higher of lower and be fine. This is just how your body is. It would help fight infections because it would kill anything quickly.
