In my opinion, the true spirit of charity doesn't involve lending money to others or organizations. I really think this is a key area in which many Americans have lost the meaning of or faith in charity. We do things indirectly, symbolically for cancer or cystic fibrosis without getting to close to disease and death and carry on with our lives. I'm very cynical about charity for the moment and plan to continue a "I'm not going to hurt you, but I'm not going to go out of my way to help you life."

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity is Love and it comes from a willing heart and not out of compulsion. It is shown in how we speak and act toward others.
Giving material things with "the right motive to those in need" is another way we show our Love.

Faith Hope Love....the greatest of these is Love.
