tell a Christian there is no such place as Heaven?

In my simple mind it seems much more logical that people who are RELIGIOUS come to this forum because of their interest & belief in things religious & spiritual. Furthermore, it seems that it would be LOGICAL that if an Atheist is in this forum it is for reason of gaining knowledge of religion or things spiritual since they have no other "hope" to offer. Being that the Atheist is not religious & I don't know of any who are particularly "spiritual" yet they are HERE I don't see how it's wrong on my part to tell them the truth of dying in sin & going to hell. Yet, it does seem to me to be only cruel & a desperate attempt to rob the hope of Christians to be here to try to convert us....to WHAT?

So, back to my original question...

WHY is it wrong for me to tell Atheists the truth about Hell but ok for Atheists to try to rob me of my hope of Heaven when they offer me nothing else in return?

Of course you realize it is pointless to tell an Atheist to go to a place that he doesn't believe exists.

F. Only Judaism based religion have your sort of hell, most other religion don't. Therefore do not equate Judaism and it's offspring as the only religon in the world.

G. Why do you think your truth is the truth? Indoctrination since young or your pastor says so, or your parents say so, or you think so does not count a bit. There is absolutely no base for your assessment other then pure blind faith.

H. If you seek to be hypnotising the likes of you, you should perhaps start a "christian only" forum and not join an open forum where opposing view is also a view.

it may be worse for an atheist to tell a christian there is not any heaven because of the fact the christian believes in heaven and consequently the atheist is thinking the life of something it is very genuine to the christian whether, whilst the christian tells the atheist that he's going to hell it may have no which ability because of the fact the atheist knows hell does not exist consequently he can't bypass there. The christians assertion shouldn't result the atheist because of the fact it does not encroach upon the ideals of the atheist because of the fact the atheist's actuality does not contain hell,...... whether it variety of feels that atheists in many situations get all depressed and cry massive weepy tears into their 1st version copies of "The Matrix" and "Fade to Black" whilst absolutely everyone makes them even evaluate that possibly our lives are not purely a hollow phantasm that ends whilst our battery runs out

I've wondered this many times. I think if these types of atheists were Christians, they would be the kind that they themselves hate. So, it's NOT the atheists, it's the types people...

These types of people are always trying to convert other to see their ways. It's human nature. It's how countries are born.

Why do you want to tell people they're going to hell? Jesus himself proclaimed at the beginning of his ministry that he came to proclaim Good News, release of the captives, healing, and the Lord's favor. He taught compassion and that the primary commandment is to love God and love others. Christians, or any people of faith should know what they believe and why, and be willing to examine their faith, and even question their faith. I don't think Atheists are trying to "rob" anyone of their faith. They like to challenge, and yes, sometimes belittle, but a person whose faith is based on more than trite sayings and feel good theology shouldn't be threatened by anyone else's beliefs.

My take on it is, they don't have to believe you, but you are compelled to tell them. If they don't want to listen, shake the dust off your feet and move on.

They cannot rob you, they only mock you. Christ was mocked and He is still willing to forgive. Amazing love.

Don't let it bug you, just keep shining your light for Jesus. Keep your eyes on Him, He is the author and perfecter of faith.
"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Telling someone that they're going to burn forever in a pit of fire and excriment is a little bit more offensive, in my opinion, than telling someone that there's no afterlife.

Seriously, the latter is on par with telling a child that Santa doesn't exist. Do you consider that to be as bad as telling a child that they're going to Hell?

because heaven and hell are ideas, not truths to them.

and your ideas (heaven, hell) are the main force behind the fanatical people that are trying to push their morality into laws that we all have to follow. many of them may have an intrest in learning what others believe. and many of them probably become bitter after about the five millionth time that they are told that they are going to hell. you see, everyone that is not Christian, has heard the sphiel, "worship my god, or you are going to hell". and it is the rare Christian that will stop long enough to listen to one of us say. "i do not believe in your god, or i do not worship your god, etc" and listen to our reasons, or our ideas. yet thay expect us to sit quiet while they tell us that everything that we believe is wrong.

i can tell you this, if i was Agnostic. Christians would quickly drive me to Atheism. as it stands, i was Christian, and Christians drove me to Paganism.

Luke 6:
35. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

You have a good point in that atheists are just as dogmatic about their belief in 'nothing' after death as anyone else.

I do like that they are here though because their posts prove intolerance and ignorance are a human trait not a religious one...

... and I am an atheist... ;-)

The only reason you claim it is true is that you have swallowed mythology. Do you think that every paramecium is going to its own version of eternal reward or punishment? You seem to have accepted without examination the fact that human beings are simply animals with brains that have exceeded our basic needs for survival. The same is true of an elephant's trunk, a giraffe's neck, an anteater's snout, a hippo's girth, or an albatross's wings.

Non-existence is an "experience" that we've all had...before we were born. The state of affairs after our deaths will be simply a return to that state of affairs. It didn't bother us then, and it won't bother us after death.

Hell, on the other hand, is eternal torture.

Would you rather sit for ever in the dentist's waiting room or would you rather be in the dentist's treatment chair having every one of your teeth pulled out without anesthesia for all eternity?

The metaphor loses a lot (atheists generally don't believe we exist after death), but you may get the point.
