He is massaging his paws on pillows and large stuffed animals and kneading them like how people knead dough for bread. Is this natural in cats?

That is what they do as kittens so an older cat does that when they are happy and content.

This is very common in all cats even tigers, lions, etc...They are remembering kneading there mother to get more milk. Have you noticed that he does it more just before he goes to sleep? Most cats do this all 4 of my cats do it and my cats in the past did it. Its kinda funny some cats will actually try to nurse on the blanket, pillow whatever it is kneading. LOL

Yes it is alright, sometimes they knead blankets, pillows, or even people. There are a couple of reasons, not nursed long enough, really happy, or seeking comfort. I have had cats do it and it can be used to bond with your cat, just be careful of the claws, use a thick blanket. I hope you have many years of happiness with your cat.

Don't worry, it seems they all do that. My three cats does it too, even my kitten. However, the runt of the litter seems to knead on air, and can't seem to grab stuff when kneading. So your cat is just happy and content ^^

kneading is a sign of pleasure. it can be deadly to the pillows if you don't watch him. it goes back to when he was a kitten and was drinking his mother's milk. if a cat is kneading he is happy

Perfectly normal with cats. They do that as babies when they nurse from their mom. It's a comfort thing to them, or, as some would say, he's making his bed. Hope this helps!

I have 3 cats and all of them do that. I call it "makin bread". LoL! Mine are usually feeling very affectionate when they do this. Sometimes they purr or drool when they do it.
