yes you can get rid of the pain a few ways...ice cream for one helps, also crushed ice works to..but dont eat or drink anything that you have to work to swallow it will just hurt more...you can also take ibuprofen(i wouldnt recommend aspirin just incase you start to bleed) If you take the pills with water its gonna hurt but might be worth the effort, I would take them by putting them in the middle of a bite of ice cream and letting it roll back. Good luck, im a nurse tech and ive taken care of some tonsil patients..I know it hurts...but youll feel better in a few days:)

Drink fluids and eat soft foods. This will help keep your throat moist and your body fueled. Have your mom or dad stock the refrigerator with soft drinks, icepops, gelatin, ice cream, and pudding. Other good things to eat are mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, pasta, and warm soup.

While you're getting better, you'll take a pain reliever, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. You also may get antibiotics to prevent infection. You may see little white patches in the back of your throat. This is normal. After the first week, the white patches will fall off. You doctor may also have you return to his or her office for a checkup.

I got mine out along with my adenoids less then a week ago. I am 22 years old and it has been the worst experience in my life. The medicine makes me sick I hate it. I haven't even eaten anything for the past week if I do i throw it up. I can barely even eat Popsicles lol. What is helping me is ice chips and coke a cola syrup and lots and lots of sleep. Slushies are good to just don't drink anything red.

Take your pain meds, I preferred popsicles over ice cream. Stay away from chocolate (it burned).

Lots of popsicles....
