I'm in the Guard. and just found out my soon to be wife is preg. she has two kids from her previous. can I still join the active duty? I know you only allowed to have two children to join. does that mean overall or two of ( MY) kids?

Yes you can still join active duty. As long as you have not adopted the other two children you are good to go. However, the military will not cover your two stepchildren under your military healthcare plan, for the fact that they are not your biological children and that you have not adopted them.
If I were you, I would postpone getting married untill you are settled in your active duty position. They will lstill et you put your new born child in your military health care plan.

it will require a Waiver. as long as the step kids live you full time and you claim them on your taxes, they are considered your dependents., and are eligible for enrollment into DEERS.

BTW.. you are considered a SINGLE PARENT if you are not married and thus INELIGIBLE TO ENLIST. yes, even if the kid ain't born yet.

you are stuck between a rock and A hard place. Can't go active since you aren't married. Needs a waiver if you are, which may or may not be granted.

Check with your recruiter, but they usually mean children for which you have a legal obligation as a parent -- that will include stepchildren.
