Go to
My Computer
C:\ Drive
Windows
Media Folder

This is where the sounds for Windows are

Look down the list for Windows XP Startup
Right click on it and select Rename.
Now just put a X at the front of the name,

It will not play now and setting it back will just need the X removing.

Now put your new audio in that folder and right click and rename it to Windows XP Startup

First, convert the song in question to a WAV file. You can do this with a number of utilities. My favorite is CDex. Then go into the Control Panel and double click "Sounds and Audio Devices". Click on the "Sounds" tab and then find the "Start Windows" entry in the Program Events list. Click "Start Windows" once to highlight it and then click the "Browse" button. Then find your converted song and select it. The next time you start Windows, your song will play.
