It will lessen any potential pain. You might try taking a bendryl (or generic) to help you relax. Try to get the first appointment of the day so you aren't thinking about all day before you go in. Wear you Ipod or headphones and listen to some music you love. Tell the assistant, hygienist, or dentist that you are nervous, they will probably give you a little more TLC. Ask them to explain what they are going to do and how it should feel. You might consider an office that can give you nitroux oxide (gas) to help you relax. Those are some things that should help...

Good luck,

It depends on the procedure that you are going to have done, and whether or not you will have a driver to take you home afterwards! The hydrocodone could potentially react with the injectable anesthesia that is used to numb your mouth, but the chances of this are extremely small.

If you're really affraid of dentists, go to Biolase.com and find a laser dentist near you that doesn't have to use shots and drills anymore. There are many dentists out there that use lasers to fix cavities and do most of their work and it's pain free, without the sound of the drill. On that website, they have a link to find dentists in your area that are using the lasers.

If you take anything you should tell your dentist before you begin. Some medication react with local anesthitic so you should be sure to tell the dental assistant or dentist about what you're taking. So dont take it and ask for the Nitrous instead.

If you're nervous about dentistry you should consider sedation dentistry, they sedate you an hour before and you basically in a half sleep during the procedure.

Or if you dont want to go that extreme ask your dentist about Nitrous Oxide, that calms alot of nervous patients and the effects arent as drastic as sedation.

I agree with ya. This happened all the time with us too. I think they think we are crazy . If you can't get outside financing why should a Dental or another office for that matter carry ya. What happens then is everyone suffers because if an office has patients that don't pay then the other patients have to pay higher prices to off set this. How many time has your office been burned when you did let them make payment . You know we all have had that happen and that just ruined it for all those patients that are grateful and probably could have been trusted. Its those few that ruin for all the others.

FYI HYDROCODONE IS A STRONG NARCOTIC AND THIS WILL NOT CALM YOU DOWN, BUT WILL LESSEN ANY PAIN YOU MAY HAVE. IT MAKES YOU FEEL DRUGGED OUT, SO I RECOMMEND A NON-DRUG METHOD. JUST SPEAK TO THE DENTIST AND EXPLAIN YOUR CONCERNS.
