Read John 3. Jews did believe Jesus was the Messiah. Not all, but many. That was backed up not only by his death but more importantly his resurrection. And the hope went out to the Gentiles later. Salvation should transform us from the inside out. Works won't do it. Eph. 2:8-9. If works were enough, there would be no need of Jesus Christ.
John 3:
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

That's a really good question!
Yes, belief in Christ as your salvation is enough, because God does not stop there, even though some might think, "Well, that's it!"
Because Jesus promised something for those who believed: He promised the Holy Spirit, and Paul wrote very good verses on this in his letters.
In John 16, Jesus promised that when he lefty earth, the Holy Spirit would come. In Chapter 15, he said:
26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.
So belief in Christ for salvation is what you need, but don't think that it stops there!

"For by grace are you saved by faith...", so yes - as long as you fully understand and believe everything that goes behind that verse....
For example, Satan believes in God - he talked personally with Jesus. I am sure that Satan believes that Christ died for our sins, but that doesn't mean that he is trusting in that sacrifice to save his soul. I think that alot of people believe that Christ died on the cross, rose again bla bla bla intellectually, but don't actually put their faith in it. They've heard all the Bible stories, but if you ask them how they know they're going to heaven, they give you all human-based answers (I go to church, I'm a good person, etc.) This is NOT authentic saving faith. There's head knowledge, and there's heart knowledge. If it's authentic full-dependency complete surrender type of faith, then yes, faith is enough.
I think you also have to make sure you know who Christ was. He asked his disciples "who do you say that I am". If you say he was a great teacher but not God incarnate, I would say you have your faith in the wrong Jesus.

Ye, that is enough. It even says that to get in heaven all you have to do is beleive that Jesus Christ died on the cross for everyones sins. But, you can still spread the great news to everyone so they can all be saved and live in eternal peace with God. Just read the bible, pray, and go to church to build on to you. If you don't spread the news then a bunch of people might not get saved. Help them be saved too.

Apparently, you should also repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, see:
Rom 10:9,10:"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
It also has to be the biblical Jesus. So, Mormons and Jws have a different "Jesus". I also know someone called "Jesus", but he is obviously not the risen son of God, therefore no one will ever be saved by believing in him; nor by believing in a different Jesus, like Jws or Mormons).

We are saved by grace, not by works, so that no one can boast.
We are saved by grace alone. Recall that in Acts 16:31 the jailer asked Paul and Silas how to be saved. They responded, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." The jailer believed and immediately became saved.
Close to 200 times in the New Testament salvation is said to be by faith alone - with no works in sight. Consider the following:
John 3:15 tells us that "everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
In John 11:25 Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
John 23:46 says, "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."
John 20:31 says, "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
If salvation were not by faith alone, then Jesus' message in the Gospel of John - manifest in the above quotations - would be deceptive, stating that there is one condition for salvation when there are allegedly two - faith and works.
I must emphasize that we are saved by faith for works. Works are not the condition of our salvation, but a consequence of it We are saved not by works, but by the kind of faith that produces works.
Eph 2:8-10 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this: It is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

JESUS says that many things prevent men from entering the Kingdom. What do you think? If one forfeits the Kingdom while dwelling on the earth, will he at the same time get into Heaven?

Jews don't believe that Christ was the Messiah, but I get your point. My church (Lutheran) teaches that he who believes and is baptised shall be saved. I do feel that God just wants us to believe, that if we do something bad we're not automatically going to hell. I don't really feel like explaining my whole views on religion right now, but it does make sense that that would be enough.

Jesus is not God. So believing in him is far from enough. Sorry to anyone who believes he is i am not trying to be offensive you are welcome to your beliefs but the question was asked and i believe as a Muslim i have to give an honest answer. Muslims love and respect Jesus but as a prophet not as a god, not the son of god.
If you are asking for an alternative view then i suggest you read the quran and you will see there are many things in life we have to do to be saved. Don't say you where not told. Gods revelations are clear.

No, ...."Except a man is born again, he shall not see the kingdom of God" .- Jesus
"But as many as received him (Jesus), TO THEM he gave the power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe in his name, which were born.... not of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but were born of God"- (John 1:12)
