Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

A portion of an evolutionary response to social living.
Love, and other parts of our personalities, are the tools we use to interact socially, and, we evolved in groups, so one must always look at an emotion or concept such as Love in the context of the group.
We tend towards monogamy (worldwide) and mate for life.
However, in reality, many trysts outside of a sanctioned or recognized partnership occur! This is also part of our social behavior, individual men trying to spread their seed far and wide, and individual women deciding who will be the father of their offspring...
So, what we in the west call Love, (romantic love), is a feeling of mutual attraction that helps bond a couple. It may be lubricated or initiated by lust, but is probably a longer term status than lust, which can ebb and flow throughout a relationship, not just at the beginning.
Love is a word to describe a concept. Each of us does have their own definition, there is no "objective" love to be measured after all!

love is a noun and a verb that can't be described, because it's a meaning in itself, with just about every human emotion including hate. Love is love, and I don't know why we waste time trying to define it instead of feel and show it.

"Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for another." God loves you so much He sent His only son to die on a cross. He was raised again so that those who believe can have eternal life.
