There is much antagonism in the world today between the two camps of Christianity and Atheism, and it is reflected in miniature here on R&S. There are, however, two wonderful persons who show to me that both groups have far more in common than they do in differences.
I present for your consideration Ramjet and Thrice Baked.
Ramjet is a Christian, Thrice is an Atheist, yet both have the common qualities that make for greater good in this world of ours. Both are compassionate, intelligent, well-spoken, have wonderful senses of humour, and look for the best in any situation. Both are also my friends and have put up with my immaturity and patience-trying times. I love them both and know that they are one of the main reasons people are attracted to R&S.
A Christian and an Atheist, and both of them shining, outstanding examples that I think we should emulate. Their example is inspiring.
Let's show them our love and appreciation, shall we?

I think this community is amazing. When I first started here I had absolutely no idea it woud turn into this. There are tons of amazing people here! I don't know what the heck Yahoo is thinking trying to keep this an impersonal place where just q&a rules... It just ain't happenin' LOL
Jack is right Thrice, you ARE amazing. I'm thankful to have made your acquaintance.
Jack, you realize with your wit and charm that you are a great catalyst here too. Since people are drawn to you - and contrary to what you say about being selfish yourself, you really are not - you have a gift Jack.... you bring people together. thank you!
I am truly blessed to be a part of all this - and to know such wonderful people as you's all (ooo Grit is going to kick me for that grammar LOL)

This is beyond beautiful, Jackie. I am floored. Thank you ever so much. ((((((((((Jack)))))))))
You have been neither trying nor immature. I wish you could see yourself as I and so many others here do. I am silly as all heck. I have the sense of humor of a gifted 5 year-old sometimes. OK, forget the gifted part. ;-) You, Jack... you're incredible. You make everyone laugh, you're an absolutely brilliant artist, a kind, compassionate, loving and loyal friend, and one of the greatest and most sincere men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. You are not narcissistic; your humor is self-deprecating and many people just don't 'get it'. You aren't weak nor arrogant nor undeserving. You are so much more than all the put-downs you allow yourself to believe, Jack, and I love you like crazy.
Rammie is indeed a wonderful, fun-loving, sweet, compassionate woman; a testament to all of R&S. It has been an utter pleasure to get to know her recently. When I had my first attention tantrum she & Uncle Wayne addressed and satisfied my need for seeing my name posted in questions. :-D I know Ramjet has been a wonderful friend to so many and I am honored to be mentioned along with her.
I don't know how exactly to tell you what I think of you Jack, or how high an esteem I hold you in, but suffice it to say that you have been of far more help to me than you realize. You are a lovely and a healing soul. You have my heart always.
*Tosses cookies everywhere* Thanks, y'all!

I happen to believe that we Christians are probably wrong in some things that we believe, just as atheists are certainly correct in some points they make. After all, we are finite beings, with finite grasp of reality. Think of it this way: A flea hatched on a dog can hardly grasp the reality of life outside the environment on which it was born; in fact, it would probably never occur to the flea that there might be other dogs, let alone that there might be cats---and the idea that there might be hairless or furless animals would be incomprehensible. Yet, here we are, and few of us are covered by hair. The dog on which that flea hatched absolutely cannot grasp the reality of life as experienced by the humans among which it lives---let alone, comprehend the thinking processes of those humans. Yet, here we are---and yes, we think. In my opinion, the flea or dog can understand human thinking more thoroughly than we humans can grasp universal reality. Why would I think that I could grasp infinity with my finite mental capacity? I can't. If I can understand God or describe God, then God is not God. We Christians happen to believe that the Nature of God has been revealed; how the nature of that revelation is described varies, depending on the particular Christian approach. In fact, the main difference between the spiritual approach of the three Abrahamic faiths and that of other faith traditions is that we who belong to one of the Abrahamic traditions believe in a personal God Who has revealed His/Her/Its Nature. Can we fully grasp that Nature? I don't believe so. Can we MISunderstand the revelation(s) of the Divine Nature? Absolutely. And that is why I am not upset when I find that I have probably been wrong in some of my ideas, and have to change them. And that is why I am very grateful that I am a member of a faith tradition which ENCOURAGES me to consider alternate views, and to constantly examine and re-examine my own positions---and to change my views when I feel it is called for. BTW, my church is the Episcopal Church.

SDW is also an example of a believer who does not need to resort to immoral tactics to support a position of faith, and rises to defend those who are attacked in an unchristian manner by those claiming to be Christian.
ADDENDUM:
There's a reason I avoid these questions about people. After 7 thumbs-up, I see SDW equate atheism and Satanism.
