If me and my boyfriend are 20 yrs old now, but both of us will be 21 in June 2008, can one of us book a cruise for after our birthdays? I keep hearing you have to be 25 to book a cruise but there ANY cruise lines that allow you to be 21?

I am amazed at all of the incorrect answers on here posted before mine. It seems that people are just guessing so they can answer a question.

The correct answer is that Carnival Cruise lines requires that the persons booking the cruise must be at least 25 years of age. All of the other cruise lines allow persons age 21 and above to book. Here's CArnival's policy:

"Guests are required to be 21 years old (on embarkation day) to travel. Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied in the same stateroom by a parent or guardian 25 or older. The exceptions Carnival will make to this policy are:

Married minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple is married. The couple must have proof of marriage at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund. "

The requirement on Royal Caribbean, Princess and other cruise lines are different. They require that at least one person be age 21 or older.

Here's the Royal Caribbean policy straight from their web site:

"No guest under the age of twenty-one (21) will be reserved in a stateroom unless accompanied by an adult twenty-one (21) years of age, or older. This age limit will be waived for minor children sailing with their parents or guardians in adjacent staterooms or under-aged married couples (proof of marriage is required). Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean Internationals age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation."

Here's what Princess requires:

"Passengers under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by a Passenger 21 years or older who shall assume responsibility for their care during the cruise. Each Passenger hereby agrees and warrants that he/she will supervise any Passenger in his/her care at all times to ensure all policies, along with all other rules of the Carrier and ship, are strictly adhered to by all Passengers under their supervision. No alcohol may be purchased or consumed by any Passengers under the age of 21. No Passenger under the age of 21 shall be permitted to engage in any gaming activities on board the ship. No Passenger under the age of 18 shall be permitted to purchase cigarettes or tobacco products. Passengers hereby agree not to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind (except wine and champagne) on board for consumption."

So you can book on any cruise line except Carnival and you will also have a much better cruise.

Actually if you are planning on cruising after your 21st birthdays, then YES you can book a Carnival cruise. You have to be 21 years old and your cabinmate has to be 21 years old at the TIME of sailing. If either of you are under the age of 21, with the exception of marriage, then someone over the age of 25 has to travel in your stateroom.

All cruiselines require that you are 21 years old on the day of sailing unless traveling with your parents. So yes go ahead and book your cruise, if both will be 21 when you sail.

If you are over 21 you can go on the cruise. If anyone in the cabin is under 21 at least one person in the cabin must be over 25. This does not apply to persons who are married and legally emancipated and under 21, but it can sometimes be a problem getting the tickets without proof of marriage.

If you have any problems see a travel agent, they know how to work out the issues with the cruise lines.

As long as BOTH of you are 21 on sailing day, it is fine. If one of you were under 21, then the other would have to be 25.

And, don't listen to those who responded that you only have to be 18....that's not true. No major cruiseline will permit anyone under 21 to cruise alone without an adult 25 or over.

Yes, you can book at any time. As llong as you are both 21 on the day of departure you're OK. The 25 yrs old rule only applies if 1 of you is under 21 at the time of travel. Then someone must be 25 or older to be responsible for the younger passenger.

Disney is your best bet. They will let 18 year old cruise without parents. A few other cruise lines will let 18 year old go alone as well, but most of them are extremely expensive.

Yes, I believe you only have to be 18. Call your local travel agent, and they will be able to tell you. I booked a mexico cruise for my 21st Birthday, that was quite a few years ago though, not sure if things have changed.
Have fun!
