The Oz government has already banned the lite, mild, extra this 'n that labels; now they're just colour coded.
For many of my 45+ years of smoking I smoked roll-ups because otherwise I chain-smoked.
I sure did 'love' smoking but it was really the drug telling me how 'good' it was.
Any person with even half a brain can tell it's no good for your health.
I quit last New Year's Day.
It didn't hurt a bit.
It's good to become UN-enslaved from such a powerful and insidious habit.
The hardest part about Stopping Smoking is making the decision to quit - after that it's all plain sailing.
It DOES take courage to quit although I've never seen myself as particularly courageous.

I wonder why you put this in the R&S category?
Anyway, it depends on how you define the terms. If you are referring to the (scientifically tested) amount of tar, nicotine, and other chemicals that make it through the filter into your lungs, then the terms apply as intended.
If you are referring to the relative strength of taste and flavor, then the terms still apply as intended.
However, if you are referring to the fact that they all cause damage to the tissue of the lungs, then the terms are misleading.
I smoke ultra-lights because I can no longer tolerate the stronger taste of the full flavor cigs and because it was recommended by my smoking-cessation group to change to UL's in preparation for quitting.

I smoke and I smoked heavily I was on 16 milligrammes before.
Now I smoke 4 milligrammes and I can see the difference on the end of the butt. The 4's are a lighter Brown than the 16's. The 16's were almost Black.
I hope this helped you.

Why do people think any cigarettes are harmful? Do you have any actual proof? No, it's just the lobby saying so without any proof. Hospitals are full of sick people who never smoked. It's all hype and bullshit just like religions.

It's a marketing trick. And you've only pointed to the tip of the iceberg.

They think it will make their product seem less threatening. People may think that there isn't much nicotine in a light cigarette.
