My birthday is Thursday, and my oldest son talked to me a couple of weeks ago about what I'd like to do for my birthday. I said the usual--we go out to dinner and come home and have cake. He lives about 70 miles away and made plans to work in my area. I'm picking my Grandson up from school, but he'll be with his mother that night about 20 miles away. We were going to eat near where my Grandson lives because he has school on Friday. My youngest son lives near me, has a camping trip planned for Friday after school through the Tuesday after Labor Day (about 45 minutes away) and my Grandson will be with him on Wednesday night. Now after our plans we laid, he wants me to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday so he can pack for his camping trip on Thursday evening. So what would you do--Wednesday or Thursday, if your birthday were Thursday? Relationship with my youngest son hasn't been that good lately.

Celebrate your birthday twice. On Wednesday, celebrate with your youngest and on Thursday, celebrate with your oldest. Who says that you are limited to only one celebration? That way, both sons are happy and you get to extend the joy.
