Yes.

Your local building codes specify a minimum non-powered vent size required for different capacity furnaces. Call your local code compliance group and check with them.

I installed a new 125,000 BTU gas fired, 80% eff. furnace several years ago in an older home, and had to install an 8" diameter vent thru the wall into the room in which the furnace was located. This was required by the local municipal building code. Actually, I didn't have an outside wall on the room the furnace was in so I had to run a duct into the room fron the outside wall. Some codes make you provide a duct that will discharge a minimum distance from the furnace.

The vent was of sufficient size to allow sufficient flow of combustion air to the furnace burner without a power assist.
The vent opening had to be screened on the outside

hello..the reason for the authorities to NOT want you to side vent the furnace is in your question...Its Draft induced and there is where the problem comes from ...if there is not proper draft (created from the heat rising ) CO builds up and well you never know what hits you...!! Most every gas or rather fuel furnace that requires venting combustion gas requires it to go out the top.....Even with a power ventilator (electric) the gas goes on burning when the light s and the fan goes off. Check with your local building inspection department ..its listed in government city.... they will give you the same answer or one near it...Until we get a 100% eeeeefficient furnace that has a CO monitor in its system that turns off the fuel valve we will probably have to vent to the roof......Have a good day ....be safe out there...from the E...

the blower relays are undesirable on the administration board. To get him by using for now - take the motor lead going to the warmth terminal on the board and place it on the HUM terminal, and eliminate the twine this is there if there is one. HUM is 120V warm output to the humidifier transformer if he has a humidifier. it is going to act comparable to the blower heating relay sending potential to the blower seconds after the burners gentle. The permanant restoration would be a clean circuit board, the a/c wont paintings till a clean board is put in. except the blower is annoying under pressure out into the foremost line to run for all time. do no longer attempt twine one hundred twenty V to distinctive motor leads on the comparable time.
