welll...a lot of people say to let him run around naked and that it helps because he won't want to pee everywhere...but i think that is just wierd...what we do is give the child a fruit snack or jelly bean evertime he actually pees on the toilet. You can try to start a reward chart if he is old enough to understand...each time he goes on the potty he gets a sticker and if he gets 10 stickers he gets a special prize...well good luck! he'll catch on eventually!

Try to use incentives that he can have if uses the potty. You can do things he gets every time he does (example: candy). I would suggest doing that at first so he can get an immediate reward. Once you've done that for while and he seems to get less excited about it find a toy he wants and tell him if he uses the toilet X amount of times (10 would be a good number since he can count to that) he can have it. Make a chart of sorts (with ten numbered boxes) and get some stickers. When he uses the potty give him a sticker and let him put it on the chart. Once the chart fills up he gets the toy. I would suggest buying the toy before hand so that he knows what he is working towards. And always praise him when he uses the toilet. It will mean a lot to him. Use phases with "big boy" in it or "just like daddy". Hope this helps!

It sounds like you made it fun and interesting for him. If he wants nothing to do with it, and got frustrated, maybe he is not ready yet. Some children are ready at two and others are not. My oldest son was trained at 3 1/2 and my youngest was trained at 2 1/2. My oldest son just was not ready at 2. Continuing when a child is not ready can cause him or her to rebel and not go until a later age. The fact he might not be ready at 2 does not make you a bad mum; he will let you know when he is ready by showing signs. I am going by personal experience with age differences as well as advice from other mothers when I was going through the potty training process.

I just potty trained my son and daughter. I like an approach where I don't have to pressure or push my child. I think it really helps boys to pee standing up so they can see what is happening and connect the sensations.
What worked for my kids was The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com I started by just setting it at the toilet. My kids immediately climbed up on the stool and discovered that they could safely and securely use the toilet. This got them very interested in using the toilet and they were potty trained very quickly. My kids like to use what they know mommy and daddy use.

I like that I don't have to double the steps of potty training by training them first in a potty and then training them to stop using a potty. And not dumping and cleaning a potty each time is great. The best thing is that kids use it for years. I hope this helps you

At two he may or may not be PHYSICALLY ready to be potty trained. Sure he may be smart as can be, but he needs to have his body ready for him to be potty trained. If you try to rush it thinking "he's a smart kid he should be able to do this" you actually will frustrate him and could even delay his potty training. Until he can tell you without a doubt that he needs to go potty or you see him giving physical cues like pulling at his penis or doing the pee pee dance then you really shouldn't try to potty train him because he's not getting the physical cues he needs yet. It's not his fault, he's just not ready. When he does give you the cues and you start potty training him be consistant. Take him on regular trips to the potty every 1 1/2-2 hrs and don't put him in pullups but opt for either CLOTH diapers or real underwear. They feel gross when wet and they don't like that and try harder to make the toilet. When we potty trained my son(by far the hardest thing to do is potty train a boy) we eventually bought cloth diapers and called it a "baby diaper butt" and told him that he was going to wear it til he learned to pee in the toilet. We also got him some spider man undies(because he loves Spidy) and when he went a whole day without an accident he EARNED the right to wear the spiderman undies. We had a couple of accidents but within literally 2 days he was trained and accident free. I also don't reccomend teaching a boy that young to pee standing up because not only are they really bad aimers, but they can't reach the toilet without a step stool and it's not convienient when going out to public restrooms since they can't reach the toilet so train them sitting down and let them learn to pee standing up when they are actually tall enough to stand infront of the toilet without a step stool.

My advice? Stop trying to make him grow up too soon. There's only so much he has copntrol over developmentally. His body may not be ready for him to be potty trained. Its not the end of the world. Back off and wait a few months and he'll probably be ready, but some kids might not train until they're almost 4. It doesn't reflect on you as a parent if they are/aren't potty trained at a certain age. Sounds like you guys are pushing him too much - and as for using the microwave, he could seriously burn himself or even start a fire, please don't let him do this kind of thing. You may think he only does it when you're around but what if he does it when you're not watching? Accidents happen very quickly, sounds like you're cruising for a big one by teaching a 2 yr old to ride a bike and use a microwave. Good luck!

I had a day care business in my home and I trained 13 little ones. I really think my method works very well. First, get a nice potty (the children love the one that plays music when something is deposited it it, hopefully, pee or poop!) I also painted a little bullseye on the bottom of the pot to gain a little more interest. Your child knows when he is going potty so he is absolutely ready to be trained. I would let him walk around the house in just a t-shirt (maybe a little longer one to cover him up a bit but, let him go without the pants). He will certainly know when he is going and you need to watch him and place him on the potty each time he goes. Reward him with many praises and maybe make up a chart and let him put a sticker on each time he goes. When he gets 5 stickers, give him a treat (fruit roll up, cookie or something he particularly likes); read to him when he is sitting on the potty, also. Give him lots of drinks and remind him to try to go when he is finished drinking. He will get the idea very quickly. Never, never yell at him if he has an accident. Just say, "Oh, that's too bad. Remember that we need to use the potty when we have to (pee or poo)." It will take an entire day of watching him carefully until he gets the message but, it is worth every effort. He should be totally trained in a week. There is a great book called, "Toilet training in one day." and you might want to pick it up. Good luck!!

I would say, buy a potty training potty and potty training book, toy and movie! Make him very excited about going potty!!! Make him think that it is the coolest thing to do!!! Eeryone does it!!! Let him in the bathroom with his dad so he can watch and learn! If your uncomfortable with that then, bring him to the bathroom with you or just show him what you need to do and praise him EVERY time he goes to the potty, if he goes on the potty give him his fav food or even a piece of candy, as long as you brush after, lol! Remember boys are slower at potty training! Don't worry he'll pick it up! I wish you the best of luck!!!
