I don't know whether to feel pleased that Christians contradict themselves all the time and are thusly exposed for being misguided and confused, or to feel afraid, very VERY afraid that these same people are running our country (into the ground). Does anybody have some encouraging words for me?

Don't worry. They like to pretend they're right, but deep down they'd be lost without our rationality and good sense in the face of fear. When the S hits the F, the masses always look to science for the answer, even through their blubbering and praying.

Come out as an atheist. The more openly atheist people there are the better. Show the Christians and those who may become Christians that you don't need to believe in God or read the Bible to be a happy and moral person. Christianity (or any religion that relies heavily on irrational beliefs) will not be around forever.

every superpower has its day. perhaps it's time for america to join that long list of former superpowers like persia, rome and britain have done. one hopes that the transition is graceful rather than messy. life goes on either way. yeah even if they bring out the nukes!

Unfortunately you aren't that far off. Many of them should scare you. Most have good intentions though, so don't get too paranoid. But this is why we need more atheists.

Out of curiosity... how have we contradicted ourselves? Please give me an example, and I will tell you whether that is an actual contradiction, or a statement from someone who either doesn't know their religion very well or was overly enthusiastic in making a point.
