It depends where you are travelling. Climate and temperature affect the diseases that mosquotes can carry.
But it is Africa, Asia and South Amercia where their can carry the most; included:
Malaria, Dengue, Yellow Fever, and west nile fever.
Also you can have an allergic reaction to the bites, that can lead to infection. Use anti bite precaution to protect your self such as deet spray.

I guess that answer would depend on where you happen to be.

West Nile virus has already been mentioned, but the mosquito (specific types) also carry malaria parasites, dengue fever, yellow fever, filariasis, Rift Valley fever, St. Louis encephalitis, etc. etc.
